just had to add this cuz the lookism edit with this song has made me giggle so much over the last few week hehehehehe ahahahahaha
DECEMBER CHALLENGE DAY THRITY-ONE:
Would you look at the time, it's nearly the new year and the end of the 2026 December Challenge. Now I would go into deep sentimental topics into what this year meant for me and the people around me, how much I've changed etc., but John Zorn's got me fucking pumped. This album is as epic as it is crazy. The fact that some of this shit is written down as sheet music is fucking bonkers. This felt like if John Coltrane got transported to the 21st ... read more
DECEMBER CHALLENGE DAY THIRTY:
Rumors is defo one of the classics, up there with Thriller by Michael Jackson and Rest in Bass by Che. It's a really great uplifting album but it's all about heartbreak with a mainstream sound which makes it obvious as to why it's probably the most famous/well-known album of all time. People can relate to this album with all their soul and passion while others just hear it as background noise on the radio. Whatever way you spin it, it sounds good. ... read more
DECEMBER CHALLENGE DAY TWENTY-NINE:
We're getting close to the end of the December Challenge and on day 29 we've got Slowdive by Slowdive but, not the album, it's Slowdive EP by Slowdive featuring the song Slowdive. A short but sweet shoegaze demo pack from '90 which is pretty impressive knowing this pre-dates albums like Loveless. Apparently these songs are the demo verisons of the tracks because the band didn't like the way the studio versions sounded which is very ... read more
DECEMBER CHALLENGE DAY TWENTY-EIGHT:
I've got little to say about this album, Alice in Chains is a band I've never found interest in really. This set sounds fine like most other unplugged sets do imo. Maybe I'm not a fan of acoustic guitars :/
DECEMBER CHALLENGE DAY TWENTY-SEVEN:
Man I love King Crimson but this album is soo damn boring compared to the rest of their discograpghy, except maybe "Exiles" and "The Talking Drum", the rest of this album sounds like filler. For a '73 album, it's still very impressive, just somewhat lackluster.
DECEMBER CHALLENGE DAY TWENTY-SIX:
I was very hungover and tired so I don't think I could've made another review on time for the challenge but I am alive and here again. This is a really awesome japanese rock album produced by the same person who produced a majority of "The Fishmans'" albums who are one of my favourite bands of all time. The are plenty of similarities between the two bands with the guitars sounding very similar imo with MMRM having less Reggae and Dub ... read more
DECEMBER CHALLENGE DAY TWENTY-FIVE:
Aah Christmas time. The best day of the year, second to Halloween. After all the stress of cooking the turkey, frying the brussel sprouts, dealing with annoying relatives, I need something to relax, and Chill Out has been on my radar for a while now. This album is so chillllll. You can sit down and enjoy the scarcity of stimulation while still finding moments you enjoy in the album, ranging from a singular droning synth to something as crazy and complex ... read more
DECEMBER CHALLENGE DAY TWENTY-FOUR:
IM SORRY GUYS. I'm an hour and fourty six minutes LATE to my christmas eve december challenge review. IM SORRY. I was getting very drunk with my slavic family and had very little time to write a review so im doing it now. This album is simply beautiful, vocals are reminding me of the album "Songs About Leaving". Very serene and harmonic, perfect for a xmas album with some really great slowcore style chords and guitars thrown into the mix which ... read more
DECEMBER CHALLENGE DAY TWENTY-THREE:
2014 was one of the very first years of my life I really remember, it was also one of the first years of my life I started listening to my own music that wasn't being fed to me by my parents. I discovered Skrillex and would listen to all his shit back in the day and play roblox thinking I was the shit, now 7 year old me wasn't being performative so this album never came onto my radar, up until like 2020 when Mitski was blowing up. The image of ... read more
DECEMBER CHALLENGE DAY TWENTY:
Yeah I fucked up. I somehow forgot to put day 20's "bittersweet record" onto my december challenge list and ended up 2 days ahead now soooooo I'm doing two reviews in the span of a day but won't do a review tomorrow. ANYWAY... Post is a classic Bjork album and I'm kinda suprised how I haven't listened to it yet, seeing how I love her earlier and later stuff. This is really good though. It sees Bjork mixing these warm strings ... read more
DECEMBER CHALLENGE DAY TWENTY-TWO:
A super solid cloud rap album that takes a lot of inspiration from latin-rap and latin-pop which makes it a really enjoyable and unique expperience. I couldn't find any lyrics online so I'm purely going off of vibes but overall, this was a really nice record. Seeing how this only has two other english reviews, this album really shows how under-appreciated foreign/world albums are purely as it's in another language. This album was anything but ... read more
DECEMBER CHALLENGE DAY TWENTY-ONE:
Just a really solid and well made metal album. Very winter-y and the album cover is so tuff. I don't have anything bad to say about this album, except the fact im not the biggest metal fan but I listened to this on max volume, playing fortnite off that charlie charlie perky and that shit hit different.
DECEMBER CHALLENGE DAY NINETEEN:
I'd never heard of the band "The Necks" before this, but they seem like a cool group of chaps. I don't know if they've done something controversial before, but from what I know, they aight. This album is very strange, some parts sound like two albums are playing at the same time, some parts sound like an awesome interlude in a sick jazz-fusion song, and some sounds like "Swans". "Disquiet" is definitely a mixed bag ... read more
DECEMBER CHALLENGE DAY EIGHTEEN:
"At it's core, it's just a much grander performance of the original studio album, which is what the studio release eagerly yearned for." - flapjack (2025). This album is so beautiful and heart-wrenching man. At, what some people would say, the height of his popularity, Kanye performs 808s and Heartbreak Live at Hollywood Bowl, his potentially saddest album to date to a crowd of 17,000. Not only did the studio release revolutionise trap ... read more
DECEMBER CHALLENGE DAY SEVENTEEN:
This live set is going straight to my "getting probed by aliens ๐ฝ๐ธ" playlist. Autechre is a group that I love very dearly. Some of their live sets are just really out of this world. This one is a good example, but its way too long in my book. They do change up the beeps and boops every now and then but it really gets stale after an hour. Still very enjoyable and could possibly see myself coming back to this on a rainy day.
DECEMBER CHALLENGE DAY SIXTEEN:
Had a weed dealer who recently amputated his arms and applied a penis to each end, call him Herbie Handcock. Head Hunters is a groovy funky sexy wavy jazz fusion record that really emphasises the mod synth and makes it the star of the record. it's the kinda music to make your grandma boogie. It's the type of music you hear in a movie montage. It's the type of music to fuck to.
DECEMBER CHALLENGE DAY FIFTEEN:
Some really solid instrumentation with great sounding guitars and super interesting lyrics. Neil Young is one of the best story tellers in music history and this live set proves it.
