Slowdive is just under twenty minutes long; I honestly can’t tell you where or when its moment starts and ends, and that’s not fucking bad for a debut EP with no songs.
They were at their most derivative here, taking most of their cues from My Bloody Valentine's Isn't Anything, but that doesn't prevent Slowdive from being captivating.

I thought Shoegaze was going to be like ambience, jazz, punk, and thrash metal where I go through dozens and dozens of acclaimed albums and it just doesn't connect with me until it randomly clicks after the communities hate my existence and I have to compensate by finding albums of those genres and saying what about them appeals to me now that I "get it".

Slowdive’s self titled debut EP is just… gorgeous. The song aptly titled the band’s name as well might just be one of their best songs, it’s kinda noisy in the way an mbv song might be but it still feels so uniquely Slowdive with Neil and Rachel’s vocals and that airy feel to it all. Don't crucify me for this but this is my favorite Slowdive project from what I've heard so far... Which like, isn't saying a lot, but I mean, I do prefer this over "Just for a Day". I don't know, there's something about the execution on this one, it almost feels poetic to have this as your first record. It's rare for me to feel this thoroughky impressed by an EP, but it just felt so complete and so well constructed, even if it's so short.
A good EP to start off with.
Slowdive laid the foundation with this EP and what more was gonna come.
