second review: this album is GASS. after more listens this has become my favorite album of the year so far. this album is very minimal but i realized that is all it needs. mk.gee has amazing vocals, but they sit as a backing for his insane guitar skills. each song fits a similar sound, but after more listens it really gels super well.
very simple but works. the stripped back vocals over his unique guitar is very compelling. mk.gee sticks to a very similar sound throughout the whole album. ... read more
lowkey flames. didnt know what to expect but this was pretty enjoyable. the production on most of the songs is moody and futuristinc, a good change from the overused rage beats in his past. VERY bloated though, could of done without like half of the songs. yeat falloff no longer imminent
takeaways: mr. inbetwwenit, if we being real, psycho ceo, breath
i was excited about this one, but sadly it disappointed. i think this lacked some of the great production that we have heard on stuff like mo jams and a cold sunday. the style and excitment also just didnt last through the full project for me.
keeps: point me to it, dialed in, my life
pretty disappointing :( i had high hopes for this album, really big fan. didnt capture as much of the atmosphere as the first projects. overall felt pretty flat and it didnt hep that half of the album was released as singles. still gonna go see her in concert tho lol
liked songs: but not kiss, thinking about you
super fun album. peggy production went dumb the whole album, and i think it really brings the best out of danny brown.
favorite songs: burfict!, kingdom hearts
my favorite album of 2023. production just feels on a different level than music coming out right now. it just feels crisp. a lot of songs have a feeling of growing up, and even though it is hard it must happen. helped me get through a rough stage of my life.
liked songs: nearly everything on the album
favorites: jonathan l. seagull, what if you hypnotize me?, cant go back
went in wanting a good trap album and thats what i got! like that goes insanely hard and overall the album does exactly what i and i bet others expected
saved songs: like that, everyday hustle, type shit
i Found River Whyless off of Motel 6. the rest of the album doesn't pull me at all, i don't like their faster pace sound as much.
adds to like songs: Motel 6, War is Kind
I am relating to this new album a little more than I’d like right now :I But its good, especially Space Invader
my favorite thing about music to me is atmosphere. i love when a song can make me feel like i am transported to another lifetime or evoke feelings without me trying. igor is the perfect album for this. the sound is nothing like ive ever heard before and each song brings another take on genre-bending/mashing. to this day i have a hard time understanding the different sounds i hear each second. this is my favorite album from tyler and it is crazy the progression he has had. this is one of the ... read more
this album was my comfort album this year and according to last.fm it was my most played album. my girlfriend and i were supposed to see Arlo on her American tour but sadly our date got canceled. my favorite experience with this album is how consistent it is. besides two songs, i enjoy this album petty smoothly through. my favorite song has flipped from one to another over the past year and a half but at this moment the crown goes to "for violet" the overall storytelling is amazing ... read more
I really liked this debut EP from aldn. the only song I heard before the listen so it was nice to hear some other new songs. The production, like most hyperpop projects is amazing and I like the diversity shown in the album. My personal favorite is still glittr but I also liked most of the other songs apart from "dog eat dog" and "i'm alright" which I thought were... well, alright.
Favorite Songs: glittr, 2ppl
Wow... Tyler has really found his sound on this album. I love this album and I think this might be his second best project behind IGOR. Tyler is back to rapping and it is easily his best rapping yet. The production is amazing taking sounds from every album he's ever released and it is really cool to here. Not only does Tyler bring a lot of his best in production and performing, but so does all of his features do amazing, my favorite is Wayne who sounds immaculate on THE HOT WIND BLOWS, Uzi has ... read more
I like most of the songs on Project X, I think this is a step up from his work on both of the Teen X tapes and he might have the most potential out of this new underground scene, up with the likes of SoFaygo, BabySantanta, and Destroy Lonely. I still think, like most projects of this sound, there still needs to be some sort of elevation to break this apart from being a good album, and becoming a standout. Playboi Carti is the only artist in my opinion who has truly taken this new sound to its ... read more
First time listening through a Darkside Project all the way through after hearing a few songs before. After hearing this I am definitely going to go check out Psychic in the near future. I really like the production on this album and the pacing is really cool. At some points I am a little indifferent on the vocals, but overall I really like this project.
Favorite songs: Liberty Bell, Only Young, and The Limit
jackboys was a cool project with don toliver shining the most out of the bunch. besides the energy being high and prevalent, the only song i come back toto this day is HAD ENOUGH. HAD ENOUGH and GATTI are my two personal favorites while the others don’t really clea the bar for me. there isn’t a bad song on the album but the album doesn’t bring anything i truly come back for.
