Atmospheric black metal is a genre I generally enjoy, but it comes with its limitations—especially when it comes to musical variation. In my eyes, Blackbox is an absolute top-tier album with no flaws to be found. It’s a record that not only lyrically draws inspiration from Hemingway’s The Old Man and the Sea but also instrumentally and melodically creates an atmosphere that perfectly complements the storytelling.
