Halsey - Lucky

actually cute

got some kind of a vibe to it, i can't put my hands on it but yeah

Katy Perry - WOMAN'S WORLD
15

This drove me to listen to “Stupid Love” by Gaga again.
I have not listened to that song since the pandemic.

This is levels of bad.
Minus 5 points for trying to empower feminism with Dr. Luke!

Already on track to outdo witness-level of bad. Wallahi she‘s cooked

JoJo Siwa - Karma

it's alright jojo you'll always be a 0 to me <3

Beyoncé - COWBOY CARTER
82

Following the triumphant dance-y "RENAISSANCE", Beyoncé returns with the second entry of this "acts" trilogy - this time, she explores the country genre. Keep in mind though, this is not a country album, this is a Beyoncé album.

Overall, this is another solid entry into the trilogy.
This is an album, in a sense where you really, really have to listen in full without skipping the interludes in it.
Those interludes are the weaving components of the album - if ... read more

Taylor Swift - Red (Taylor's Version)

I'll get straight to the point, I love this album to death. This review will be just me gushing over the album, basically.
This re-record is by far her finest.
Now, this album... This is a classic.
This is the most Taylor Swift that Taylor Swift has ever Taylor Swift'd.

30-track long, especially with a re-record that she was just starting her endeavour, coming after "Fearless (Taylor's Version)", quite the ballsy move, isn't it? With the inclusions of her infamous "Better ... read more

Taylor Swift - Speak Now (Taylor's Version)
83

Following my "Fearless (Taylor's Version)" review - I have found that the aforementioned album has been a success, especially as it is done in order to reclaim her ownership of her own songwriting.

Now, it is time to delve into an album where Taylor prides herself in, an entirely self-written album.
In an overall retrospective, this album has become one of Taylor's great foundation in her discography.
Such statement is made because this album has gone to become the very living proof ... read more

Ariana Grande - eternal sunshine
77

After the release of "yes, and", Ariana very uncharacteristically decided to let the song speak for itself without any other singles until the album's release. To me, this was genuinely a worrying move given that I do not fancy the song.

When it is finally released, it seems like this is a graceful move given that she seems to be able to find her sound on this album.
Thematically, "eternal sunshine" is about acceptance.
Accepting that it is fine that if you cannot ... read more

Taylor Swift - Fearless (Taylor's Version)
83

After letting it float around for more than 2 years without any critical reception, I've finally decided that it is time to go through the Taylor's Versions.
I have been wanting to do this for a while now but I was just feeling lazy I guess?

I'll get right into it: out of all 4 re-records, this is her most faithful re-record so far.
It has many highs, strong all-around and really displays why "Fearless" won Album of The Year in 2010.
For some people back then, they have never really ... read more

Jung Kook - GOLDEN

Let me just clear this up before I start writing this review: if you enjoy this and cannot face criticisms towards something you enjoy - do not read this.

I'll just get straight to the point: this is bad.
It opens up with the insufferable "3D", the chorus is just flat-out bad, his singing style on this is absolutely insufferable given that it comes to the songs as a group via BTS, he actually shines so well. Why couldn't he do the same on a project where he's the sole performer? It ... read more

NewJeans - Get Up
84

Through this new EP, NewJeans once again shows what they are capable of.
Looking past its super-short length aside, this EP contains quite a solid round-up of songs - quality spear-headed by "Super Shy", this DnB track is infectiously good - this is my favourite K-Pop release of 2023, excellent song. Some people might find it repetitive, unfortunately for you: you hate fun.

"New Jeans" is actually quite a good intro too - it surprisingly fits well here because this is the ... read more

NewJeans - New Jeans
79

An introductory EP from New Jeans that showcases the aim of their sound.

It's plain and simple while being able to achieve the good quality of it - "Hype Boy" showcased as a highlight.

LE SSERAFIM - UNFORGIVEN
82

I want to clarify one thing before writing this: I do not see this as an album.
I am only reviewing the work from "Burn The Bridge" until the end, I wish to see this trend where they add old songs into an EP and call it an 'album' to be stopped. Now let's get to it.

First of all, wow. I actually do adore their work, even this one.
So far, I am on a streak of enjoying their songs which is a rare occurrence since I do not enjoy K-Pop releases that much.

Though "Burn The ... read more

Olivia Rodrigo - GUTS

After a juggernaut of a debut with the 2021's "SOUR", well, she is under quite the scrutiny since she has faced quite a number of plagiarism claims (over a chord progression) and she also has to outdo the quality of "SOUR".

With that, I can vouch that she did it. All the things I felt that were lacking in her debut were completed here - "GUTS" is overall the solidification of the sounds that she was doing in the album prior to this. If you loved "jealousy, ... read more

LE SSERAFIM - FEARLESS

Got reminded of them having another EP before "ANTIFRAGILE".

This was a fun listen.

LE SSERAFIM - ANTIFRAGILE
88

This, and NewJeans.

Both of them, right now need to keep on doing whatever they are doing.
Loved it, I am floored.

Wasn't that big of a fan with "No Celestial", this pop-punk movement needs to die down a bit.

"Good Parts"? Indeed the good part, an excellent K-Pop track at that too.
"Impurities"? Literally one of the purest parts of this.
Nailed the title track too.

Enjoyed it aplenty!

Lana Del Rey - Ultraviolence
94

Well, I am impressed.

This album nailed the vibe, nailed its production - everything from front to back is beautiful.

11 songs, mostly being quite a lengthy song by itself, and those lengths pay off, it was worth it.
A vintage sound that was quite prominent in "Born To Die", she carried it forward and make it flourish, and it worked, it worked beautifully.

Her vocal performance here is hauntingly beautiful, it boasts of beauty - thus explaining why she is such an influential figure ... read more

Jimin - FACE

"Autotune is an artistic choice,", some people would say when it comes to defending a certain song from this EP, indeed that is true, but if it comes out as an atrocity, that's a bad choice at that.

"Like Crazy" is everything he needed to do to achieve goodness - "Set Me Free, Pt. 2" is everything wrong with it.

It's a middling body of work. Didn't mind the English rendition of "Like Crazy" - though it was unnecessary.

Lana Del Rey - Paradise
74

Started off perfect with "Ride".

The latter tracks have their standouts, and some don't.
It is consistent, but it is fine.

"Yayo" is dragged too much though..

Lana Del Rey - Born to Die
82

This is a good debut album, it has a lot of standout moments, when it stands out - it really does.
The first half of the album is gorgeous.

Overall a solid experience.

fuck the critics btw
