I have decided to give Ariana Grande, one of the most biggest names in the current mainstream media in terms of music right now a listen through her discography, and “Yours Truly” is the the starting point of her music scene (if you exclude her musical performance in shows like Victorious).
First, the album starts off with “Honeymoon Avenue”, a song that starts with a very beautiful rendition of music - it went on with the sounds of pop which is such a solid opening to ... read more
In 2021, Selena Gomez finally dropped the highly anticipated a full Spanish-based body of work.
It contains 7 tracks - which all almost sound identical. That being said, it didn’t give enough interest to the listener, though “Baila Conmigo” is a highlight - it was strong enough that it could not carry other tracks. Not to mention that the other tracks aren’t even reaching a high point.
I guess you really have to consider that this is her first attempt on a body of work ... read more
Back to the K-Pop mini album - I decided to give Weki Meki a listen.
I think that this is a good first taste of the group, though it might not have a strong point, “COOL” is definitely an enjoyable track. I do not have so much thoughts about it - but I’m expecting myself to drop reviews of their whole discography of them here.
It was alright. It’s listenable.
Lana Del Rey dropped her LP in 2021 after the triumphant “Norman Fucking Rockwell!”, and did she live up to what NFR! did?
Unfortunately, it is very hard to achieve the greatness of what the previous record has done.
But still, let’s focus on the current record - she started this record with a bang with “White Dress” which I would say easily the best song on the record. It’s followed by the title track - which follows the quality of the previous ... read more
From someone who dropped the most electrifying debut single in recent memory - Olivia Rodrigo finally enters the music scene with her debut album, “SOUR”.
The relentless stories revolving heartbreak - keeping the feeling cohesive, while the album itself packs with a punch of ballads, offering the listener what it feels like to experience a heartbreak from a teenager’s perspective.
The angst and the way she captured it so dramatically just makes it more engaging for me to ... read more
I gave the album listen. God, I understand why is it so universally hated.
I couldn’t finish most of the tracks.
It’s very horrible, wow.
Aly & AJ scored their numbers with this album.
The duo started the album with such a strength- leading up to a very cohesive listening experience. The cohesion of this body work is definitely one of my favourite elements of this album.
They showcased properly on how to score the strong body of sounds as the album progresses- making it easy for the listeners to go through the album.
Though I feel like the second half isn’t as strong as the first half, this is definitely an album of ... read more
I came to this album because a friend recommended it to me- and yeah, hearing “Love Scenario” in the opening definitely feels like a fresh breath of air of K-Pop.
Some songs like “Don't Forget” definitely hits you, with it being accompanied by other good tracks.
The album definitely has a good strong point, and it carries itself in a solid position. It was actually quite easy to go through this.
Like I said, this feels like a fresh breath air of K-Pop.
Definitely ... read more
I used to be a fan of electronic music, but I fell out of love with it since the quality of the said genre of music is just not for me. However, I gave this album, to be specific, a chance.
And wow, a cathartic experience of music, chaos, sadness in one album, seeing how Porter learned about life & how he explored the theme of this is just absolutely astonishing and it captivates the listener, it just feels good.
I have probably experienced a 90% decline of interest towards this kind of ... read more
My thoughts on this album.
With Kendrick covering a lot of bases in this album, he served the purpose. He made music, he made points.
It’s just so interesting to me how he can cover the political issues in the United States- while he looked at himself and acknowledged his fears.
One track got me really, really hooked. That is “DUCKWORTH.” He gets you into a time into the past and tells you every detail, letting you to visualize everything with such a smooth execution.

A look into XXXTENTACION’s mind- as he stated in “The Explanation”, speaking from the cover thematically, you know it’s going to be really, really gloomy.
The gloom of the album is that he takes you to a very depressing world of his own- where he kept on reminding you of how terribly messed up the things have went.
My problem with this is that, I wish the songs aren’t lyrically shallow. And sonically, it just doesn’t dig through my listen.
He is known for ... read more
““Better Mistakes” is Bebe Rexha’s sophomore- what does she has to offer?
For me, a lot of things felt short. The first half being very not memorable, the trap beats incorporation just does not work.
It feels forgettable, that’s it.
In the second half, “Death Row” came and because the highlight of the album. It was the moment of the album. “Mama” served as a respectable closure, at least.
Will I visit this album again? Probably not- ... read more
Let’s start, so Billie’s debut showcased a very angsty side of hers.
You have songs like “bury a friend” & “listen before i go”.
Does it tarnish the album’s quality? Absolutely not.
I definitely see how the angst carries the album and stays as the theme, accompanied by the whisper-y vocals.
Though Billie’s album has a higher score compared to her EP, I still feel that her EP is more solid, they all have a great distribution of quality. For ... read more
Billie Eilish, by now the world knows her name.
She introduced us with this EP.
For me, this is a solid EP- with tracks like “watch”, “ocean eyes”- so much teenage angst in this one.
I am surprised by seeing other users’ review, this is a pretty overhated project, because it is solid, it is known for a very good reason.
For me, this is definitely a good listen.
Will I come back to it? Yes. It’s very easy to go through.
After listening to “SAWAYAMA”, I was told that she has an EP that came out before her debut album.
My thoughts on this is that, it’s a great prequel to her musical journey. It’s solid, well-constructed, yet simple.
You can casually listen to it as you do other things, it’s just very easily to get into.
With a great introduction, she has shown that she has improved with her debut album- and I can definitely see her to curate a groundbreaking piece of work.
A good ... read more
Continuing my 2020 journey, here are my thoughts for this album.
Rina Sawayama has been in the music scene for a while now- and she has finally released her debut album.
The album is explosive, solid, with the incorporation of pop and rock that takes you back to the 2000s in such a well-executed way.
Though some tracks may not be that explosive, it’s good enough to show that Rina absolutely has the potential to blow us away.
Songs like “Tokyo Love Hotel” & ... read more
In 2020, we all went through a rough year.
Other than “folklore”, in my opinion- this album encapsulates the melancholy of a supposed ‘Roaring 20s’.
It’s super melancholic, and showed such an improvement compared to her “Stranger In The Alps”- with songs like “Kyoto”, “Saviour Complex” & “I Know The End” being the stars of the album.
“I Know The End” is easily one of my top contenders of my top songs ... read more
Phoebe Bridgers introduced herself with such a solid debut.
The album is a very cohesive body of work, though at a certain point I would feel kind of heavy, that’s the only flaw of the album. It might not have the strongest point compared to her second album, “Punisher”- but this is very good enough for her to prove herself that she is here to tell a story, that is hurtful but captivating.
The album is comforting, but is it my comfort album- not exactly, I think. But this ... read more
BTS’ “BE” is their second album of 2020, after “Map of The Soul: 7” dropped.
From what I heard through this album, they have explored multiple directions, possibly experimenting to see what the audience likes.
This is an enjoyable listen, I genuinely enjoyed this.
I would casually listen to tracks like “Blue & Grey” & “Telepathy” for sure.
