I am a big fan of "Male Fantasy", so I was hoping for more of that and she went there and I am pleased.
This was the album that confirmed that she is staying, for me.
She is going to be here for a while - she has avoided the sophomore slump.
It's solid, though having a steep low of lows, it's compensated by its structural integrity and having some strong punches throughout the album.
Songs like "Oxytocin", "Your Power", "Happier Than Ever" and "Male Fantasy" have proved that she's capable pulling off multiple ends of sounds. To top it all off, even the ... read more
one of my favs out of speak now tv deluxe, and boy. loved it
speak now tv is going to kick everyone's asses btw, so thankful this made people realize that eyes open is excellent
one of the best things about this song is that i never expected it to be re-recorded.
thankfully, it did.
listen, i love miley but wow
this album is consistent on one thing; the underwhelming choruses, it just don't have the punch.
you'll hear a lot of people saying they preferred plastic hearts, and they're right for obvious reasons
if only all of the songs are like jaded, river and violet chemistry, it would have been 2023's essential summer album like how future nostalgia was in 2020
also, what the hell was that throbbing drum in muddy feet?
overall it was okay i guess
i disrespected the album with my initial review.
i judged it way too quickly.
i got it. i understand it now
the judah smith interlude felt weird though. too long for an interlude and it can spoil the mood for a thorough listen
Due to the "First Love" gaining a newfound love in my generation - I was caught in a wave of nostalgia and decided to check what she has been cooking recently.
One of the best decisions that I've committed to, this year.
Starts off solid, with such a strong opening track.
Before I continue, who the hell thinks it's a good idea to not separate the addition tracks from the original 10-track?
Probably her label, but regardless - thanks to the internet for keeping everyone informed. ... read more
Going into his sophomore, Conan delivers an improvement. Slight.
How much improvement is depending on which aspect that you are looking at.
For me, I found that this project has made Conan seen a new height, a new summit.
A new summit, a new low too.
Songs like "Family Line" and "Memories" hit you, it was nice to have those moments.
However, the issue still lies on the album as a whole, the way the album runs is bumpy, it spoils you listening mood at certain moments. The ... read more
After being one of the notable faces of the new wave of artists (at that time) - he stepped out and gave us a story to tell.
Was it good? No.
Was it bad? No.
It left an impression, the good kind.
The standouts, namely, "Wish You Were Sober", "Maniac" and "Heather" show that he has something to offer.
The album is inconsistent in terms of quality, with the latter half did not manage to give a good impression, it was listenable though.
Would I come back to this ... read more
Finally, after waiting for so long to get this out after ensuring that I'm done with her long-awaited sophomore.
This was such a ride. She was in control of the things going on here.
From the get-go, you know she's getting you hooked on what she has to say - she wants you to listen, she makes you listen, she does not force you to listen.
Getting you engaged to the album is an important move for the artist as you need them to sit through your entire body of work, and boy - she does not play. ... read more
So much ups, so much downs.
Thankfully, in the bloated 23-track run, it managed to keep it up and stayed at a spectrum of good quality instead of staying in the opposite spectrum.
Tracks like "Kill Bill" (duh), is an instant banger and is now making rounds in the music scene, as it should.
The Phoebe Bridgers feature is gorgeous, "Gone Girl" and "Nobody Gets Me" are such an earworm.
The final run of the album, that mostly consisted of her pre-releases and ... read more
Fun, started at a high note, "Love Countdown" is one of my favourite K-Pop releases this year.
Though it gets sloppy in the middle, it's still worth a listen.
I need an album with Tove Lo and SG Lewis together, like put them in a room or something because those two songs are so good
"Glimpse Of Us" was a nightmare earlier this year - it was everywhere (not necessarily a bad thing), since it's the perfect song.
I was thrown off in the middle of the album, but I liked "Die For You", and thanks Joji for actually picking it up again in the end with the closing freestyle track!
