I'm going to make this quick and simple.
I enjoyed this, from the start to the end - I never, never expected that I would enjoy an album from Maisie Peters in 2021, which is released literally a few weeks apart from someone that I really love and anticipate from, Lorde.
The songwriting, straightforwardly great. The story that was told in "Outdoor Pool" is vivid, it's crazy to actually see another artist is nailing this down.
"John Hughes Movie"... A pre-release. You ... read more
After the triumphant "Melodrama" - I was in fear on how she is going to top that album.
And after years, comes "Solar Power".
In "The Path", Ella opens the album with such a casual groove - giving us an insight of what the rest of the album will be like. The groovy vocal registers.... and,
''Cause we are all broken and sad
Where arе the dreams that we had?"
At least that melodramatic side is still there.
And for the title track, the lead single. It's an ... read more
It’s been a while after I reviewed an album, no?
Today, I’ll be reviewing one of the biggest names in music right now.
In general, it had more lows compared to highs.
“Kiss Me More” is definitely the star of this album.
I wish the features could give it justice. Sadly, it didn’t.
Following after “The Dream Chapter: STAR” release, TXT dropped their first full album in the same year.
Let’s start the review with this; it’s a vast improvement.
The album opens up with “New Rules”, a track about being rebellious, creating new rules because you don’t want to abide the current rule - setting a theme for the “Dream Chapter“ trilogy; a story revolves around a teenager’s life.
It is followed by the synth-pop excellence ... read more
In honor of their comeback - I decided to delve into TOMORROW X TOGETHER, or TXT.
They debuted with this body of work that consists of one theme; love. In this work, it shows the innocence & the purity of love.
In “Blue Orangeade”, this track talks about how two different people can create a strong bond of love. Paradox creating a bond. For me, the verses, the chorus & the production works well on this track. They’ve managed to open the scene with a standard.
With ... read more
Often highlighted as a conventional piece of music - I gave this album a listen.
The album captured the feelings of heartbreak in such a unique way - painful, yet.... so unique. Cohesiveness is not a flaw, but certain pieces of the sounds just does not click to me.
While it captured the beauty of feminity and pain flawlessly - it feels really futuristic and I’ll say it again - unique.
Though this doesn’t interest me that much, I know that this is truly a masterpiece in the ... read more
After the triumphant “Dedicated” - she dropped her Side B for this album.
In general, this feels like an actual Side B, though it’s now an album of scrapped songs - it still feels like a complete album. However, the songs are not as solid compared to the songs in the original cut.
There are monumental moments, actually. “Window” being a laid back pop song with simple instrumentation, driven by her vocals makes it a good pop tune - and it actually can fit in the ... read more
After the triumphant “E•MO•TION” and its Side B - Carly returns again with another artistic triumph.
Who would’ve thought she would come through again with another solid artistic creation? I was seriously impressed knowing that she had created another solid and a good pop album after the previous album.
The first half, wow. Back to back serves, period.
Every track is literally strong. With some of the laid back instrumentals, not too heavy, opening it with ... read more
Sometimes, I wonder how most of the tracks didn’t make it to the original cut. They can easily replace some of the tracks of the original cut, seriously.
These 8 tracks are the material of pop excellence, with the production packs a punch of greatness, great vocal performance. I should mention again, how are these rejects of the album?
There’s nothing much to say about it, though all of them can’t top “Run Away With Me”, the quality of the tracks are ... read more
When she started humbly with “Tug Of War” - she started with at least trying to find her sound.
This time, she has found it - this is my thoughts on her artistic triumph on this pop album.
It started so, so good with “Run Away With Me”, once you have heard the first note of the song, you are never the same person anymore. Carly sets the bar so high, really high with the pop perfection, offering us a journey of what this album is. This dreamy pop tune equipped with ... read more
If you think about it, she literally started her career so humbly.
Before “Emotion” came - she was finding her sound, I can tell.
It’s not that I’m being a snob or something - but I don’t think I’m enjoying this. It’s just really an average pop record for me. After listening to this, I’m just so proud to see that she came this far.
The album itself is not that monumental, and it’s not even too bad. It’s indifference between good and ... read more
Going back to 2012, I have decided to listen to this.
I mean, this is the early 2010s pop music - either something is not clicking or I just really personally do not resonate with this. The first three tracks, including “Call Me Maybe” are really promising, but until the latter parts - something just doesn’t feel like it. It has “Good Time”, which is a cheerful & a golden piece of early 2010s pop music too, I know. There’s even a Justin Bieber feature in ... read more
This is a very.... chill project, let’s start with that. The jazzy-vibe with the instrumentation feels really like you could have a seat with it being in the background.
Though it might quite not be that strong, I got to admit that this is very tolerable - I have it saved on my Spotify library, so I can see myself revisiting this.
Her vocal performance might not be the pinnacle of music history, but it’s really a good companion for the chilling instrumentation.
Again, I went back to 2020 releases - and this time, I’m visiting this EP.
I would definitely call this as a hidden gem of 2020. The immaculate sounds of this EP is just very captivating to me and I just love how solid this EP is in general, Victoria has the potential to grow into a superstar, knowing her ability to pen down a smash hit - this definitely shows.
“Experience” itself is such an experience. The airy (I think) sounds of it with the influence of disco-pop is ... read more
And after the events of “thank u, next“, Ariana Grande is very happy and now she’s going into a playful route of lyricism & she has now delved more into the trap/R&B sounds.
The album opener itself was not it. I didn’t like “shut up” - then she proceeded with another song that I definitely do not like, “34+35”. It’s just not it for me, I think? I get it, she is playful and she’s exploring the themes of sex more explicitly, but ... read more
After certain events and incidents during “Sweetener” era, Ariana sat down and penned down more songs as a way to channel her energy.
And what did it result to? Her most cohesive body of work in her career.
This album, in my opinion and my interpretation, is a way to cope out of those unfortunate events, not to mention Ariana had to go through the Manchester incident, causing a major trauma in her - and then she had to go through another series of unfortunate events. She tells us ... read more
After Ariana Grande came through with a bang with “Dangerous Woman” - she went on to release the album that contains some of greatest and her worst songs.
In this album, I feel like it’s very uneven. It has a very strong point, it has a very weak point.
The strong point being “no tears left to cry” - the lead single of this album. This song is literal perfection, no doubt, a 10/10. If she kept this sound throughout the album, this will easily become her magnum ... read more
After a while - Ariana Grande releases her third studio album, “Dangerous Woman”.
She came through with this. Unapologetically sensual.
The album in general is very solid - she improved with this album by a landslide. I’m so happy that she went to do songs like “Into You”.
Let’s talk about how opened the song romantically yet so passionately with “Moonlight”. The way she described her man so vividly with endearing connotations makes you think ... read more
After the introduction through “Yours Truly” - Ariana Grande released her sophomore album not long after the debut album was released.
She starts the album with something that she’s powerful with - her voice. Ariana gets you engaged with the brief introduction, playing as a prologue to the album, with her beautiful vocals - are the vocals foreshadowing what’s inside the album?
She went off to show a side of her in “Problem”, which is a very catchy tune that ... read more
