Joji - BALLADS 1
50

After relistening to Joji's first two albums, I'm really hoping he can finally capitalize on his immense potential on SMITHEREENS. Joji's high points are so high, yet I find the rest of his work to be so bland. I'm optimistic we can get an album of just the high points this year.

Joji - Glimpse of Us
NR

Still one of the prettiest songs of the year

Joji - YUKON (INTERLUDE)
NR

What a beautiful interlude, can't wait for this album!

Muse - Will of the People

The first half of this is particularly painful

Kanye West - Donda

This is actually a lot more enjoyable than I remember it being when I first listened to it. Yes it’s very bloated, and I didn’t even bother listening or taking into account the pt. 2 tracks. Overall there’s a lot of great things to take away.

Kendrick Lamar - To Pimp a Butterfly
100

Listened to this album again today. I went into it trying not to give it a 100, but that’s just what it is. One of the greatest albums of all time unquestionably.

Harry Styles - Harry's House
70

Lets get this out of the way. This is Harry Style's worst album. To me, it's not even particularly close. I think both his self-titled album and Fine Line are incredible, and this is less incredible for sure.

Is that disappointing? Yeah, sure. Does this fact make this a bad album? I would say no. I actually still enjoy this record quite a bit.

Harry Style's third stuio album comes after a meteoric rise to solo career superstardom. His entrance into the music realm with boy band One Direction ... read more

Tame Impala - The Slow Rush
80

I was able to see Tame Impala perform this album live a few months ago, which probably explains why I'm higher on it than most. I would argue that this album is overall more consistent than Currents, while that album may reach higher highs. From 3 - Borderline to 9 - Is It True, I think that may be Tame Impala's best consecutive stretch of songs. Outside of those, I'm not fanatic over the remaining songs, but still round out the album very nicely. The most underrated of Kevin Parkers ... read more

Tame Impala - Currents
90

The sounds of Tame Impalas last two albums sounds more traditional in comparison to this. Currents is a wonderful turn into psychedelic synthpop with his catchiest and most infectious melodies yet. This is the essential Tame Impala album. Any Currents slander will not be tolerated.

Tame Impala - Lonerism
80

Just because I have this as Tame Impalas lowest ranking album should not discredit how great I still think this is. This album features some of my favorite songs from Kevin Parker, like Elephant and Feels Like We Only Go Backwards, but I also think this record features his most "misses". Why Won't They Talk To Me?, Sun's Coming Up, Keep On Lying, and a few others are good songs, but just feel on the lower end of what he's done.

Tame Impala - InnerSpeaker
80

An essential psych rock album. Ambitious, Kevin Parker never misses!

Black Country, New Road - Ants From Up There

88 --> 98

Edit #2:
Yeah I get it now. This is the one. I feel heartbroken, yet almost optimistic. I love this.

Edit #1:
This is basically the Marriage Story of albums. Isaac Wood's performance on this is magical, it really is. The raw emotions he is able to convey are unlike anything I've heard before, he sounds like he could burst into tears at any moment. The cracks in his voice, the imperfections - it makes it feel so real. I think my score off 88 still ... read more

"@DonVersatility @Jp27 Thank you very much! 🙏 @sport It struck me too - not necessarily negative but very self deprecating. Maybe I just read into the whole thing the wrong way, but I felt weird with how one dimensional the emotions are"

"I don’t even feel like any songs by themselves are bad. It’s just so unimaginably safe that the totality feels more difficult than any individual moment. This will certainly go diamond in showers and wedding dance floors all over the world though"

On Don Toliver - OCTANE
"@Juggernaut1914 I actually thought Yeat had a solid feature on Rendezvous, same with Travis on Rosary. Teezo was interesting just because it was different, but just felt out of place to me. That being said, the rest of the album feels so toneless and samey, just nothing all that compelling"
On painecuceapa's review of By Storm - My Ghosts Go Ghost
"Those 4 singles had me thinking this would be an album of the decade contender, but the rest of the tracklist doesn't exactly reach the same peak for me. Still very good, just not earth shattering"
On yonn's review of By Storm - My Ghosts Go Ghost
"I've not heard the Injury Reserve self-titled, but at least in comparison to Phoenix this is another leap in experimentation and abstractness. Such a hollow sound imo, but in the best, most bone-rattling way. Very interesting"
On TheOnlyOpinion's review of By Storm - My Ghosts Go Ghost
"Nice review, "leaving the storm" is great. I almost feel like the ending in "GGG" is saying that the storm isn't something you can leave though, and more like a new relationship dynamic that needs to be tended to. The group is going to have to manage the storm rather than step out of it"
On cooperr's review of By Storm - My Ghosts Go Ghost
"Glad you loved this, but In My Town being the lowest is a CHOICE"
On Chorde's review of By Storm - My Ghosts Go Ghost
"Love the opening line, that feels like such a perfect way of encapsulating the record. Your comparisons between BTTIGTP and this are perfect too. As much as this album feels like a scar, it's a scar that RiTchie feels like he's trying to move on from to continue working, but his hand keeps brushing up against it. Its a constant reminder that grief isnt something that will just go away"
