Not a bad record but a bit too repetitive. You can definitely hear some of Ye's influence off his Vultures era which is not bad but a bit too over the place. You can hear the gems of the albums from the first listen and some crap, some EDM inspired production and some guitar riffs that Iiked. Definitely experimental but not too much, some Veteran throwbacks here and there. PEGGY you need to focus more on you future projects please!
Yo this album is solid, it's not a classic but better then most of the old school rap released today, Premo chose the best beats for Nas for this album for sure. Nas still holds up as the most important/essential rapper ever so I hope most of y'all enjoy his 3rd run. Favourites/Best tracks: Writers, It's Time, Nasty Esco Nasir; Least fav: Pause Tapes - the concept is very cool but the execution leaves much to be desired.
Such an impressive album. The flows are smooth as butter, unpredictable, the harmonies are fire, the vibes are immaculate, the technicality is top tier, the beats are complimenting this style of rapping very well. Eveyone's rapping is top level, my only complaint being the Budsmokers Only trakc, they did it better on Buddah Lovaz as smoking weed concept. Other than that I added the CD to my collection recently I don't regret it. Have a good day listening to this masterpiece.
Bro this album is so good, I only heard about Skee-Lo a few weeks ago due to his I Wish track so I threw his album to my hear later playlist. This body of work is so underrated, the vibes are immaculate and the lyrics are fun, catchy, with a bit of conscious flair. Top 3 - I Wish, Top of the Stairs, This Is How It Sounds; Underrated tracks - Superman, Holdin' On, You Ain't Down; The worst track - The Burger Song. PS: check the I Wish (Street Mix), it has a different instrumental and ... read more
Damn that's a whole factory, not just a kitchen, these guys cooked something of a high quality. Great rhymes, lots of worldplay related to cooking dope and driving expensive cars, some minimalistic beats that hit. A great gem from the Bling Era.
