If you really let yourself get into it, it’s a trip. It feels like a bunch of aliens trying to make Modest Mouse
Way too long and samey, and I don't personally enjoy super orchestral melodramatic arrangements
some awesome big band/easy listening with some really sampleable moments
While being a bit unfinished and very rough around the edges, this type of music being made in Brazil years before Yank Crime is pretty crazy.
Just noise. It's cool to think that this was made by some of the earliest pieces of music hardware, but really it's just sound effects.
Cute and novel but gets old very quickly. Essentially the same thing over and over again.
Shorter is a master of amazing licks and intros and the energy of Blakely’s drumming carries each song perfectly as always.
Super airy feel to it that just doesn't work at all. Horrible mixing, and a lot of weird concepts that aren't executed well, with a very unfinished feel. It draws from Suicide, NY Boom Bap and Brian Eno but still fails to make something interesting at all. The songs go on for way too long without many meaningful changes.
Nice and slick but also very samey. None of the songs particularly stand out but it’s still an enjoyable listen. The drums were very excessive for a dream pop album like this but I think it was a good choice personally.
Model/Actriz channels its New York no wave heritage with a grimy mismatch of many genres and influences (house-inspired drums, theatrical, Windmill Scene inspired vocals, industrial, metallic guitars, and dance punk bass) that all comes together to make a unique and amazing album.
The Dave Brubeck Quartet can take such unique and interesting ideas from so many areas and types of music and translate them so gracefully into a jazz vocabulary that it doesn't even seem nearly insane as it is. Listening to their work is a unique and amazing journey
the two bonus tracks that aren’t listed on this version are two of the best tracks ðŸ˜ðŸ˜
I respect what they’re doing and it’s definitely cool but it’s just not my kind of stuff.
It’s shocking that such a distinctive and captivating album can be made with only one instrument
Just as good as seminal album Maggot Brain despite being twice as long. A few songs could be cut short or cut out (Loose Booty) but it’s imperfections make it even more passionate
I liked the more hazy style she uses and I think the lyricism really isn’t as bad as people say.
The main reason I love Dance Punk and No Wave is for its energy, which just isn’t on this album.
