I feel like as a combination of two artists I love and one (if not the) greatest jazz pianist of all time, I should love this album, but honestly I don't. There are some amazing songs on it, like African Flower and Solitude, but on a lot of this album I feel like the musicians, Mingus and Roach especially, have trouble syncing up and working together. Definitely one of the more unique kpop projects of the year. I love how they incorporate some funk and drum & bass into their songs
I liked some of the parts that delved deeper into shoegaze/wall of sound, but most of it just fell limp to me.
Bass lacks a bit sometimes but the piano makes up for it.
Two back to back 75+ releases from drink sum wtr. Gotta check these guys out
I feel like the production that Ghais has gone with Goyard ibn Said and this new mixtape doesn’t really fit his vocals and just overall is a lot weaker than the rest of his catalogue. There’s a lot of beats here that feel like they could work but just don’t.
