instrumentals felt repetitive and simple, and her singing is kind of annoying. this was gonna get like a 55 but Soren saved it by being a 9/10
fuckkkkkk i forgot a few tracks and now i cant edit the tracklist
halfway between american football and radiohead, and just as good as both. The first half was kind of a drag but it picked up after Jesus Etc. Gonna have to relisten soon
a lot less electronic that v:d:c and a lot more dreamy. I still like it though. Not sure which is better
The bass and drums were way too overbearing in my opinion and it drowned out everything else
YOU GON RESPECT ME LIKE A MOTHERFUCKING GRAMMY WINNER
Overall, I liked the more slow and emotional tracks better. The more bitpoppy songs felt cheesy and annoying to me, like shopping mall music. Overall though, it was alright, highlight was probably the song with Frost Children, but I wouldn't really recommend it.
Had a little bit of a rocky start in my opinion, but it's a solid album. I feel like the weird vocal effects didn't work as well on this album as it did on a lot of Brockhampton tracks. Sometimes the production is a bit cheesy/isn't good enough to cover up Kevin's awful flows. The first half of the album feels like he's trying to hard to be Brockhampton. A lot of the songs feel repetitive and the vocals are pretty annoying at times. Highlights were Shed, Crescent-Shaped Depression and Safe In Your Skin. I did like the fact that the songs were short though.
Spiderhead (100)
The energy of this song is INSANE. The momentum of the drums, the blaring horns, the crunchy guitar and the spacey vocal effects make this song one of the best possible introductions to an album. I can't think of a single fault of this song. Actually crazy that this is the first song from Cage the Elephant I've heard.
Come A Little Closer (95)
I love how the slow beginning contrasts against Spiderhead. It's just so catchy, and the instrumentals are amazing. This ... read more
One of my favorite bits of this album is all the little Janet Mock samples on a few songs, little Easter eggs like that add a general motif to the album and make it feel a lot more complete. In general, I love little skits at the beginning and ends of songs, they just add so much to the coherency of the album and just give the songs a certain texture. One thing though, sometimes these skits will have different beats, and like some of these should have been full songs. The Janet Mock sample at ... read more
