A generational disco album. This is the album that would elevate Michael Jackson to his position as the premier pop star of the time. While it isn't quite as solid as Thriller in my opinion, this is still great. Michael had truly broken away from being a kid that sung with his family to being his own star.
A weird album that works because the music is great. An interesting enough story backed by pleasant instrumentation that create a very whimsical vibe.
Her best album, but this is getting way more praise than it deserves. The album really just doesn't have much to say. It's just as vapid as her other albums just packaged in, admittedly, better production. I think (finally) breaking her ties with Dr. Luke was a much needed change as you can already see the difference in the quality of production. In a year with some amazing Electropop is coming out, this just isn't a standout.
I have no other point of reference to Bladee other than his first mixtape Gluee, which I found to be extremely irritating. The lyrics and beats on that were quite bad. Sulfur Surfer is definitely better, but it's boring to me. I expected that there would be some improvement because this is his most recent album and the only other thing I've heard is his oldest. That being said I don't think it's good, just an improvement. I've been told his albums all sound relatively ... read more
OK Computer is a genuinely groundbreaking album that still feels ahead of its time. The production is spacious and detailed, creating this cold, futuristic atmosphere that makes the whole record feel immersive and different from almost anything that came before it. The guitars are expressive, the songwriting is sharp, and the vocals fit the mood perfectly throughout. What really stands out is how consistent it is front to back. Even though some tracks are stronger than others, there are no weak ... read more
Handwritten is a very basic pop album that mostly just showcases Shawn Mendes’ vocals without much else going on. The writing is corny and surface-level, and the songs don’t offer much depth or variety, which makes the tracklist feel tedious by the end. It leans heavily on generic structures and doesn’t do enough to stand out from other pop releases of its time. Overall, it’s a pretty weak and forgettable.
Exmilitary is very hit or miss, and for the most part it leans more toward miss. A few tracks stand out with solid energy and interesting ideas, but a lot of the album is buried under harsh, noisy production that feels more chaotic than purposeful. The mix of aggressive vocals and abrasive beats makes it hard to sit through in full, and most of it doesn’t land. There are brief highlights where the production and rapping actually click, but they’re too few to balance out the rest of ... read more
Sunburn is a nice improvement from his previous album, but it still feels like it’s trying to do a bit of everything at once and it doesn’t really come together. If the idea was to blend multiple genres freely, it ends up feeling more scattered than intentional, with a lot of the album sitting in that “okay to mediocre” range. The Weezer feature also feels out of place and doesn’t really need to be there. It’s still an improvement over his previous album in ... read more
What Could Possibly Go Wrong is pretty underwhelming. A lot of the album feels rushed and unfinished, with several tracks being very short or not fully developed, which makes it come off like a generic indie-pop project that doesn’t do much to stand out. It’s also surprising how divisive it is, because while it’s clearly not a disaster or anywhere close to a zero, it’s also nowhere near great. Overall, it’s a mediocre and inconsistent album.
Sophisticated Swing is smooth, lively jazz built around tight sax lines and strong group interplay. The playing is sharp and confident, with a relaxed swing feel that makes the whole record easy to get into. It keeps a consistent groove throughout, though it doesn’t always push into more surprising or varied territory.
World Fragments sounds incredible in moments, with strong piano-driven production and high energy, but it gets repetitive fast. A lot of tracks follow a very similar structure, making the middle of the album blend together. Overall, it’s decent but tiring album.
Hold the Girl leans into a more straightforward pop sound, with simpler production but strong vocals and melodies throughout. It’s a more polished and accessible direction, similar to how some fans reacted to Charli XCX’s Crash, where the shift away from experimentation divides opinion. Rina still carries the album well with strong hooks and delivery. Overall, it’s solid.
7/27 is a fun pop album, but there’s not much going on beyond that. The songs are catchy and easy to enjoy, but they feel manufactured, and the lack of involvement in the writing shows. The vocals are well split and have some range, but the album has no clear identity and relies too much on features to carry it.
This Wasn’t Meant For You Anyway is a solid breakout with strong production that gives the songs weight and helps them hit harder. The vocals are raw and mostly work, even if they could be tighter in places. A lot of it circles the same breakup themes, and it gets repetitive over the runtime, but overall a pretty decent record.
Middle of Nowhere feels like a return to a more grounded, country-leaning sound that suits her a lot better. The production brings back elements like steel guitar and keeps things simple, which works well with her soft, easy vocals. It’s not very deep lyrically, but it doesn’t need to be, and the album stays consistent without feeling bloated. Overall, it’s solid and focused.
It is honestly impressive how Megan has yet to evolve in over a decade of making music. There are enjoyable songs here, but like what’s the point? Why am I listening to Meghan Trainor in 2026 when there are people doing exactly what she is doing but better. There is nothing that makes her special as an artist at this point. I’m not mad it exists, but I don’t think anyone would care if it didn’t. Way to cringe, repetitive, and reductive to be considered close to good.
Not as good as his mixtape, which I already wasn’t that crazy about. The first track had me really nervous for the rest of the album, but it improved in quality. The best way to describe this is a very dry and flavorless turkey that you only took a small piece of, but it takes way longer to eat than it should. Enough with these flavorless white turkeys of the month.
Why do all these country albums always have to be way too long. I get that you get more streams the more tracks you have, but you’d think there would be some editing here. All the songs are basically the same so I’m not sure which ones you would cut, but this didn’t need to be an hour and fifteen minutes. Luke Combs is definitely better than his contemporaries, but he is still painfully uninteresting and stereotypical. Nothing about this is unique. This is for people who need ... read more
I honestly expected worse MAGA Kacey Musgraves. There really is just a whole other world out there cause I had never heard Choosin’ Texas before listening to this album and it has been #1 for weeks in the U.S. It definitely isn’t boundary pushing or interesting to listen to in its entirety, but that’s not what it was made for. It was made to smash on country radio and that’s exactly what it is doing. The Morgan Wallen comparison doesn’t really make sense beyond ... read more
Escape Room has smooth R&B production and a few strong vocal moments, but it doesn’t fully deliver on its concept. A lot of the songs feel similar in tone and don’t stand out individually, which makes the project blur together.
