SZA - Z
72

I felt as though this was the weakest of her EPs. I really like a few standouts, but other than that I wasn’t that interested. Overall, an ok EP with some amazing individual tracks.

SZA - S
79

I really like this EP. I think it’s my favorite work of hers pre CTRL. You can really see how she has evolved listening to this. The production is obviously not as polished as her later work, but it is still great. Overall, a solid project.

ROSALÍA - Los Ángeles
74

A solid album. Rosaliá’s voice is great even though I couldn’t understand most of what she was saying. I did think there was a lot of similarity throughout the album, but it was fine. I think it’s her weakest release, but definitely not a bad one.

RAYE - THIS MUSIC MAY CONTAIN HOPE.
80

A step up from her previous album. Her earnestness is definitely a selling point of this record. It is dramatic without feeling cheesy. And of course Raye’s voice is outstanding. A great album.

Daft Punk - Homework
76

Pretty underwhelming compared to some of their later work, but it’s definitely not bad. There were some interesting moments surrounded by some boring ones. I feel like some of the tracks didn’t need to be as long as they were. And some of the songs really just didn’t go anywhere. I think five minute songs would be fine if the switched it up a bit. Just fine.

Death Grips - Jenny Death
53

There were some songs I liked and some I really didn’t. I find his voice irritating, but at least some songs had good production. It’s just too noisy and busy for me. This kind of music always seems really overrated to me. Not a style I enjoy.

Kacey Musgraves - Deeper Well
74

While I think the production on this isn’t her best work, I do think that she has matured in her lyricism and really got across the point she set out to. An easy listen and, overall, enjoyable.

Deltron 3030 - Deltron 3030
78

While I do think the lyricism and concept are extremely good on this album, I don’t think this is quite as good as everyone is saying it is. I didn’t find the production to be particularly interesting. It’s not bad by any means, I just felt the excellent concept could have been executed better.

Rio Romeo - Good God!
48

I wouldn’t say this ran together for me, but the songs defiantly didn’t really standout from one another. I recognized that one part in Nothings New, but other than that it wasn’t good and her voice is pretty bad.

Shawn Mendes - Shawn Mendes
61

I’m always impressed by Shawn Mendes to not only release mostly the same song for an entire album, but to do the same albums multiple times as well. It is always the same sounds and message every time. There is never anything innovative in his career. The hits can be catchy, but that’s not enough to compete with considered and thoughtful pieces.

Kacey Musgraves - Golden Hour
82

I like Kacey’s simplistic approach to writing. It feels sentimentally familiar and relatable and she just has a way of describing that familiarity like no one else really. I also really like her voice. I think it stands out in a sea of country artists whose voices I loathe. Overall, a great album.

Bad Wolves - Die About It
67

Mostly fine, but uninteresting at times. I’m not a huge fan of this genre in general and they don’t do anything to really differentiate themselves in my opinion. I think it’s just kind of basic. Nothing that offensively bad, but nothing I found myself wanting to return to.

Charlie Puth - Whatever's Clever!
65

There’s nothing offensively bad about this album, it is just so dry. I don’t think Charlie Puth is a very interesting person. Everything he makes is technically sound, but it lacks a personality. I think he should just be a producer for someone who would inject could flare into his work.

Sellout Youth - Letters to Amy
58

So bland. Nearly all the songs sounded the same and they weren’t even that interesting to begin with. I think this could’ve been a fine short EP, but it drags on for so long without doing anything different than the last five songs.

Melanie Martinez - HADES
49

Her best album yet, but that’s not really a high bar to beat. I think there’s a lot of mid on here which is brought down by a less than usual amount of slop for Melanie. The lyrics are, of course, as bad as usual. There were a few songs that I actually appreciated the content of, but then the next song would be trash and ruin whatever momentum she was trying to have. I think if she had edited herself to like the best twelve tracks instead of eighteen, she may have snuck into a ... read more

Stray Kids - KARMA
30

Yeah this just isn’t for me. I don’t understand the appeal. Their voices are so hit and miss. The lyrics are mostly nonsensical and some of the beats genuinely made me laugh (not in a good way). I don’t have much else to say other than I didn’t like it.

Kanye West - BULLY
43

With all these delays you’d think that this would sound at least a bit complete. Instead, Kanye has served demo slop to his ever hungry and increasingly deranged fanbase. Supposedly there’s no AI, even though it sure as hell sounds like it on a few of the tracks. And even if all the AI really has been taken out, the mixing is still horrible and the production is empty. How is he still this far up his own ass after creating some of the worst music known to man. Also featuring a pedo ... read more

Slayyyter - WOR$T GIRL IN AMERICA
90

Her best album. This takes all the great elements of Slayyyter and amplifies it. It’s so camp and executed the aesthetics she was going for near perfectly. Wig = $natched.

Death Grips - Bottomless Pit
46

Who is listening to this? Noise for the sake of noise. Lyrical content no where to be found. This just isn’t for me at all. Way too chaotic and messy. I’ll never understand the appeal of this kind of ultra experimentation that degrades the song to the point where it is almost not a song anymore. Cherry on top: his voice sucks ass.

60

Queen is a messy, uneven album that mostly falls flat. Some tracks are solid, but a lot of the songs are generic, overlong, or just forgettable. The production is kind of boring and her personality, which was once the appeal of her music, doesn’t always shine through.
