Hot Pink is most devoid of what made Doja standout as a personality in the first place, but it has undeniable influence in its hits and sound. Say So cemented Doja Cat as a pop force with a disco‑pop groove that influenced a wave of similar retro‑leaning pop tracks, inspiring many hits that would come out years later. Outside of that, the rest of the album is uneven, with many feeling underdeveloped compared to the impact of Say So. Overall, it’s a mixed but notable record from Doja ... read more
The Romantic feels a bit too familiar to the Bruno Mars formula without much new to say. A lot of the songs come off as sterile, overly safe, and lacking real personality or inventiveness. After a decade without a solo project, the album still leans too heavily on safe throwback influences and doesn’t build on the creative energy of his work with Silk Sonic.
An Evening with Silk Sonic is a confident, smooth, and stylish project that shows Bruno Mars evolving into a more polished and soulful artist alongside Anderson .Paak. The album leans into lush ’70s-inspired R&B and funk that the duo pull of really well. Compared to Bruno’s solo work, it’s more playful and charming, with personality and flair that make it easy to enjoy throughout. This album is proof that Bruno works way better as a collaborator that brings out the best in ... read more
24K Magic feels like a step up from Doo‑Wops and Hooligans and Unorthodox Jukebox, showing Bruno leaning fully into sleek, funky R&B. The album is tighter and more cohesive than his earlier work, with a confident, retro-inspired style that’s more consistent throughout. Still, much of it starts to sound familiar, with polished but safe pop-funk that doesn’t break new ground. Now is it good enough to be AOTY at the Grammy’s, I don’t think so, but overall, it’s ... read more
Unorthodox Jukebox contains strong singles (which are much better than the hits on his previous album) that show Bruno’s knack for retro‑leaning pop. But beyond the singles, a lot of the album feels like standard pop filler that doesn’t leave much of an impression, and a few songs drag the pacing down. Overall, it’s an uneven listen, but the singles are good enough to carry the relatively short listen.
Doo-Wops & Hooligans definitely has hits, but they’re kind of annoying to me, and the rest of the album is boring filler. This album fails to capture Bruno’s strength as a vocalist most of the time. Overall, the record feels too safe and doesn’t have enough personality or variety to justify repeat listens.
Love or Something Like That showcases Halle’s impressive vocals, but it loses momentum as it goes on. The tracks blend together for me. The production is fine, but the songwriting doesn’t stick the landing. Overall, it’s solid and pleasant listen.
It’s Not That Deep starts off strong, but as the album goes on, the momentum fades and many songs start to blend together without leaving much impact. The writing becomes less engaging and the production feels more routine than inspired. Overall, it’s a decent but uneven project from Demi Lovato that shows potential early on but doesn’t fully deliver by the end.
Love Is Like is background noise with no substance. The shiny production and features don’t save the songs and most tracks blur together. Maroon 5 is more interested in chasing trends than making music with any real personality, and this album just reinforces that. Overall, it’s uninspired and easily skippable.
Felt like I was listening to the same song the whole time. It was so simultaneously abrasive and uninteresting. The screaming is also not my favorite, but I understand it is the style. I genuinely have no idea what she is saying so this relies purely on the repetitive sound. The duo lacks evolution from previous sounds they used on their EPs. If you are a fan of this specific sound, I suppose it's fine because that's the sound you'll get the entire time. Just not my thing.
An enjoyable first project from Samara Joy. I feel as though this lacks the production her newer projects had, but her voice is amazing. An ear pleasing album that shows the jazz singer’s potential.
A very smooth traditional pop record. Laufey’s vocals are great without overdoing it. The production accompanies her well. Pretty much exactly what you’d expect a great project from Laufey to sound like.
When I first listened to this I was kind of unimpressed. I found it really basic for some reason. I think after sitting with the project, it is much better than I gave it credit for, especially the title track, which is the best song by far. Excited for what’s to come from the newest khia asylum escapee.
I mean she did what she set out to do to be fair. The singles are generally good, but I really don’t like We Can’t Stop for some reason. The rest of the songs range from overproduced and boring to annoying. The shock value doesn’t really do much for me. Overall, a fine project that could’ve used some better production choices.
After the complete flop that was Britney Jean, Britney’s come back is just meh. I honestly kind of expected worse. There’s nothing to say as this is just so unnoteworthy. It’s so sad to see what the industry did to Britney.
A complete nosedive in quality. I can give her grace though because she was in an extremely bad place when this album was released. That being said, the production is straight up ass. The mixing is bad and some of the songs are complete skips. I honestly give her props for maintaining the quality she did under her conditions, but the cracks really show on this album.
Femme Fatale isn't one of Britney's most impressive works, but it has a decent amount of good songs that elevate it into the good range. Unfortunately, there are a lot of misses that haven't really aged well in terms of production, but that is a pitfall of this era of music more so than this album. A fine Britney album.
This is a step down from Blackout. The singles are incredible, probably contenting for her best. Besides these standouts however, it’s a bunch of extremely generic pop songs that don’t have much to offer. Its inconsistency is its biggest downfall. I wish the album could fully live up to the amazing singles here, because it would be her best album.
This is Britney’s best album. I think people overrate it a bit, but it is very good. Just about every song here is good, even if it isn’t quite great, which is a first for a Britney album. It is undeniably influential. The stellar electronic elements that create a highly consistent body of work. The production is gorgeous and britney’s voice is so unique that she’s impossible to mistake. Overall, a great project.
I don’t like this as much as some people, but it’s fine. The singles are great, but that’s kind of it. And honestly, the singles aren’t really even my favorite from her. She has yet to make me interested in her deep cuts, but her singles on this one were good enough to make the album worth the listen.
