Justin Bieber - My World 2.0
24

This is not much of an improvement from his debut EP. This is basically just as bad as his EP, only slightly catchier and longer in length. More slop from Justin Bieber that is better described as a product rather than an album, because calling it an album would imply that it had artistic merit.

Justin Bieber - My World
21

This album is so bad it physically made me repulse. This is basically kids bop, but kids bop at least has good lyrics because they steal songs. Justin Bieber has some of the most cringe-worthy lyrics I've ever heard on this album. This would be excusable if he self-wrote this, as he was a child. However, this album has 29 other writers. The My World EP is teen pop slop.

Katy Perry - Smile
58

Another boring and pointless Katy Perry album. While Witness debuted at #1 and spawned a top ten single, Smile fails to achieve either of those things. Being ignored is much worse than being hated. Its like instead of everyone looking at a car crash to see how bad it is, they are just driving right on by. Musically, the album is, however, better than Witness. The addition of her previously stand-alone singles Never Really Over and Harleys in Hawaii definitely boost the album's quality. ... read more

Katy Perry - Witness
52

Katy Perry's purposeful pop is anything but substantial. Under the guise of being a reinvention and an interesting new direction for her it turns out Katy has once again not evolved. In order to make purposeful pop, one must have a purpose, and Katy Perry almost never does. She marketed the album as a political response without actually responding to anything in the music. This is truly when the public had lost interest in Katy and finally saw though her meaningless pop slop. Witness' ... read more

Katy Perry - PRISM
60

Despite selling extremely well, this was the true beginning of the end for Katy Perry. She does not evolve and still relies on the smashing success of her palatable singles to carry her mid, soulless, and formulaic albums. The problem with Katy Perry is that there is not any artistic vision beyond trying to create hits. Prism is a very mid album with a lot of filler that furthers the case that Katy Perry has nothing artistically interesting to offer.

Katy Perry - Teenage Dream
78

Teenage Dream is Katy Perry's best album by far. Five #1 singles on one album is extremely impressive and these songs, along with The One Who Got Away, are the standouts. Beyond those songs, the record isn't great. Nonetheless, Perry made a pop album that was released at the right time to do extremely well.

Katy Perry - One of the Boys
62

Katy Perry's debut project is an extremely mixed bag and even the hits are formulaic and boring. Kissing a girl is not the provocative statement that it was in 2008 and feels inauthentic, especially when the song Ur So Gay is on the album. This album isn't doing much that is innovative, but it does have some fun moments.

Ariana Grande - eternal sunshine
90

Eternal Sunshine is Ariana Grande's most honest and personal album with some of the best lyrics of her career. This album had a clear artistic vision with a phenomenal execution. The restraint she puts on her voice in this records allows the emotional delivery and songwriting to take center stage. The production is also mostly low-key, but that does not make it basic or boring. The subject matter of the album is handled with maturity and poise. All in all, this is a heartbreaking story ... read more

Ariana Grande - Positions
80

This album is so over-hated. This is one of her most cohesive works and it only has a few songs that I would classify as filler. While it is not as personal as thank u, next, not everything has to be that. This is fun and carefree while retaining a sense of maturity. Yes, Ariana singing about wanting to 69 is not exactly groundbreaking, but Positions is a solid album with not many low points.

Ariana Grande - thank u, next
82

Thank u, next is more personal and vulnerable than any of her previous work. Ariana is honest and intimate on this project. That being said, there are some songs that are filler, but the filler is somewhat interesting at least. For me, this record doesn't have the same highs as sweetener, but it is infinitely more consistent.

Ariana Grande - Sweetener
80

Some of the best Ariana Grande songs exist on this record along with some of her worst songs. However, this project is much more artistic and experimental than her previous records. She feels more confident and mature. Sweetener is also much less abrasive than her previous records, letting the production and songwriting be more of a focus rather than just crazy high notes (not to say that her previous records didn't have some good songwriting and production and that this one doesn't ... read more

Ariana Grande - Dangerous Woman
76

Dangerous Woman feels more artistically focused than her previous work. It is an improvement in terms of cohesion, lyrics, and production. However, this record still has a lot of filler.

Ariana Grande - My Everything
72

Another mixed bag from Ariana Grande, but it does has some great pop songs somewhere in there. The singles carry this album hard. My Everything feels like a playlist with little cohesion. I feel like she doesn't have a clear artistic vision quite yet. She does seem like she is finding her sound on this album.

Ariana Grande - Yours Truly
69

Some high highs and some really low lows. Ariana Grande's debut is a mixed bag and you can tell she hasn't quite found her sound yet. There are glimpses of the artist she would become, but abysmal tracks, like Popular Song, hold this record back.

Tyler, The Creator - DON'T TAP THE GLASS
80

What a refreshing new sound for Tyler on this album. A surprise drop was certainly unexpected, but this is one of my favorite releases from him. One of my biggest complaints on some of Tyler’s albums is that they can go on for too long and this one is only 28 minutes. While I do think this is great, IGOR and CMIYGL are still more lyrically interesting so I can’t put this above them. Overall, Tyler continues his streak of great albums.

Tyler, The Creator - CHROMAKOPIA
78

While this album is not as great as his previous two, it is still serviceable. Tyler is very creative and I have a lot of respect for him as an artist. That being said, I still found the production and lyrics not very exceptional and the latter half of the album falls off a bit. Other than that, Chromakopia is another solid record.

Tyler, The Creator - CALL ME IF YOU GET LOST
80

Another great album from Tyler, The Creator with a focused theme and a refined sound. Lyrically, I actually think this slightly outdoes IGOR. That said, the production doesn’t quite reach the same highs, and Call Me If You Get Lost runs a bit long for my taste. Still, in my opinion, it is on par with his previous album and is one of his most intriguing and well-realized projects.

Tyler, The Creator - IGOR
82

This is probably Tyler's best album, but I seriously do not understand why it is put on the high pedestal that it is. There are very good songs on here, but nothing crazy exceptional. This album places a higher value on aesthetic over substance. Down to the album cover, everything adheres to the aesthetic and sound that exists all over the record. But the production is nothing too crazy to me and I'm not a fan of his voice so that doesn't help. That being said, this album is ... read more

Tyler, The Creator - Flower Boy
76

A major improvement from all of his previous work. This shows a true stride away from the edgy, immature lyrics that plague his previous projects. The lyrical content is much more meaningful and vulnerable. This album is also much more cohesive and focused than his previous work. I think what holds this album back for me is the repetitive hooks that go on for way too long. This album can be boring a lot of the time, but the shorter length helps with that. A solid, well-crafted album by a ... read more

Tyler, The Creator - Cherry Bomb
54

If Wolf was a step in the right direction, Tyler has done a few steps in the wrong direction with this record. While it is not as unbearable as Goblin, Cherry Bomb is very confused and undercooked. The production is very abrasive and not mixed very well. At some points this was hard to sit through, especially because it is also nearly an hour. There is also some songs that go on for far too long. The general lack of cohesion and the straight up bad production make this one of his weakest ... read more
