An incredible mix of stellar pop songwriting, fresh and innovative production and Debbie Harry’s endless charisma. This album absolutely deserves its classic status.
There are plenty of albums that I don't think have any bad songs. There are a few albums I even think have all great songs. But Pet Sounds, oh its special. I would consider every song on this masterpiece one of my favorite songs of all time.
This would be a 10/10 album if it wasn't for 2 songs: Take A Load Off Your Feet and Student Demonstration Time. The ladder is Mike Love's vague and weird attempt at social commentary, and the former is just strange.
The lamest thing I've ever heard. Every song sounds exactly the same, aside from the two big singles, but even those aren't that good. Hash Pipe is supposed to sound badass but nothing sounds badass coming from someone as dorky as Rivers Cuomo, and Island In The Sun is the musical equivalent to warm milk.
One of the most unique and fascinating records ever recorded. Every song from the opening chorus to Good Vibrations is a mystery waiting to be solved, with layers of gorgeous production and composition, harmonies like a warm blanket and some of the most bizarre and cryptic lyrics of the 60s.
