...And the Circus Leaves Town is Kyuss' most danceable and groovy LP as they try to advance their sound while maintaining the power and grit of previous albums. The more polished production of the tracks differentiates the record from the rest of the discography, which is the way it should be in my opinion. The LP is best when it isn't trying to recreate previous albums.
Kyuss' Wretch is an interesting listen for fans of Kyuss, however it is very weak compared to their other albums. It has more generic songwriting and riffing with the classic metal 'chugging' guitars being a common feature. The tracks are mostly forgettable apart from a select few and some are plain boring (the law). Lyrically the album is uninspired with basic lyrics about drugs and sex, however the vocals are relatively well delivered overall.
Welcome to sky valley is an impressive project which shows Kyuss' ability not only to write grungey, heavy riffs but also to delve into psychedelic sounding sections seamlessly. This is shown in Odyssey amongst other tracks. It seems that they have learnt from their previous albums and perfected their sound, Josh Homme has also perfected the 'Kyuss tone' in this album which sounded a bit janky in previous albums. As always the bass work by Reeder is fantastic and deserves more recognition.
