Widely thought as their magnum opus, this record is a quintessential prog metal record. While i prefer their 2005 record ghost reveries over this, blackwater park is just has haunting, dark and beautiful as all of opeth's records. One of the best metal records ever.

A large improvement over their first record, it feels like they are starting to find their style and sound and it shows! Very chilled out record, perfect for a rainy day.

Opeth's first album is very much them attempting to find their sound, and while I appreciate this record for what it is I feel like even disregarding what they have made later this record feels a little inconsistent

An amazing end to Opeth's flawless death metal record run. Opeth prove themselves again to be the kings of progressive metal and death metal.

transitions are fucking great, the riffs and vocals are amazing, only complaint is its really short

It has some ok instrumentals and song ideas on it, however its just ruined by Ronnie's horrid personality shining through. Some of the tracks are kind of fun but it really doesn't save this record at all

This album certainly lives up to its name, also Ronnie is just a horrible person

Nothing will ever compare to this record for me, I'm an Opeth dickrider what can i say this album is haunting, melancholy, brutal, beautiful, harrowing, enrapturing metal perfection wrapped in a neat little bow.
