There will never be another Pj Harvey. This album sweeps between stripped down, earthly, heart-tugging songs that represent the sea breeze of Dorset to songs that evolve with their chugging guitars and soulful eclipses illuminating like the city lights of NYC. Lana does it again! This is her 2nd album this year and it was a surprisingly good listen. While yes there are a few vocal and instrumental errors dotted around the album…or lyrics becoming a bit derivative, it still is captivating and lonesome. “Jubilee” by Japanese Breakfast is definitely my favourite albums of 2021. This album is cohesive within it’s indie rock/pop style and brings in elements of jazzy saxophone solos and horn arrangements that compliment the sonic textures. Songs like “Paprika” and “Be Sweet” open up the album amazing with their catchy yet captivating lyrics and polarising instrumentation.
