I see Caroline Polachek I listen.
Having first intended to only listen to that one song that featured her, I checked out the entirety of this album and well it has good qualities, but unfortunately this is just not for me. I might have liked the album more if the pacing wasn't so weird, like I was already getting a bit bored on the 2 first songs cause they were pretty samey and also too long. But like I can appreciate what this album was going for even if it's not to my liking. I ... read more
WDYM HAYLEY DROPPED AN ALBUM AND I ONLY FIND OUT ABOUT IT NOW????
This is a damn weird release, like wdym there is no album and she just dropped 17 singles?? gurl?? but I ain't complaining, Hayley is one of the most important people in how my music taste was shaped so I am a bit biased towards her, but even so this album is great. There is a few songs in the middle of the album that are noticeably weaker than the start and end of the album, but that didn't really impact my enjoyment ... read more
Woah man...Quad did it
The man just knows how to make u question life with some banging beats or absolutely breathtaking melodies.
While I can't say that it's perfect due to some pacing issues, I still think this is an incredible direction for Quad to go in and I can't wait to see what the guy has in store in the future
I needed 3 listens to realise how peak this is, but at least I realised it.
This a classic for a reason: it's humorous and sad at the same time. Songs like Belt and Alive With The Glory Of Love have this weird bittersweet feel to them and they feel really comfy but also really devastating at the same time. While songs like The Futile and I Want to Know Your Plans actually almost made me tear up, they brought a very different tone I think and stood out a lot thx to that. An Orgy Of Critics, ... read more
It's too bad this album is so short cause everything on here goes so hardddd
U guys just don't get it...(I also have no idea what bro is yapping about, but I love this album too much)
Musically it sounds incredibly simple, yet the production makes it so vibrant and unique. Whether it's a quite song like Lightness or an explosive part of songs such as Expo '86 or The Sound of Settling, everything hete just works and clicks perfectly for me. Again, I mostly have NO IDEA what these songs are about, like wdym "the glove compartment is inaccurately ... read more
The title track is so magical it's hard to express in words. This album overall is pretty great, but damn that song is like incredible without having any vocals
Idk what the only critic review was smoking to give it a 30, yeah this ain't perfect, but like come on dude. Every track hits, is infinitely replayable and pretty memorable.
Little League has to be one of the best opening songs for any emo album ever, love that song
especially the kitty kitty cat part, it's so calming for some reason...
The first three songs made me feel like a true gentleman, wearing my striped suit and hat, dancing with my cane in a train full of people. I guess it is jazz-rock after all, so it potrays that vibe as well as you'd expect. The first three songs are also much easier to digest and listen to, while the songs that 7+ minutes I didn't add to my playlist but I still enjoyed the lush and great instrumentation they had. Especially on tracks 5 and 7, one had me banging my head like crazy and ... read more
I just wanna say that this is my first recommendation on aoty so thx to the person who recommended me this ^^
And u know when I got the recommendation and saw this album cover I thought I'm in for something pretty shitty and outdated. And unfortunately the first song didn't help that impression. It sounds like a good mix of rock and my countries pop music from 1995. And I don't like the second one. I feared that the whole album is going to be like that, but fortunately it was so ... read more
Some of her least captivating material strung together with some of her best lyrics, although some songs are still really great AND OMG IS THAT A HOZIER FEATURE
Truly magical, glad I decided to check out their work apart from their Eurovision entry.
Honestly listened to this to become familiar with Pusha T and just maybe Malice. But like Malice STOLE this album. Bro was great on every song, and don't get me wrong, Pusha was good too, but Malice ATE. And so did every feature, Nas, Kendrick, Tyler, Ab-Liva and everyone else improved their songs drastically - as a feature should. Everything here sounds very old class, but it just works and every song bangs while not feeling like they are produced by Pharrell at all??? Like bro LOCKED IN, ... read more
I think this is pretty standard, but also really quality stuff. Especially "Crypto" and the last track, those slap.
The soundscape on this LP is too gorgeous like dude I nearly cried on like 3 songs...
Doesn't help that the guy has a great voice that just works with these songs and the music is just so vulnerable, sincere and pretty upsetting at times :(
With all the shit that happened to her before this album released, it really strengthens how impactful this album is. It has a very uplifting and invigorating feel to it even though most lyrics are based on pretty shitty and bad events. I hope Simz continues to make music for a long long time and no shitty people get in her way. This album is awesome and Simz is incredible as always.
