This album brings together some of the top songs from Michael Jackson. And Working Day and Night.
This album is like 90% ballads and ballads and ballads, so it can feel samey at times. The legendary title track and Carousel Man are the only tracks with energy to them, and they're actually pretty good. Other than that, it's all ballads. I don't think they're bad, I even like a couple of them. Some of them sound warm and vintage, while some are pure filler. It can feel like it drags on at times. It's overall a decent/okay album
Control is a fantastic debut by Janet and I love it's theme of independence from her father having full control over her music and life. That being said, sometimes it can feel too repetitive with no payoff (WHYDFML & The title track) However, the highs in this album are HIGHS! “Nasty” is incredibly funky and my favorite song on this album “The Pleasure Principle” is a bag of addictive crack transformed into music.
