Probably the most hypnotic jazz album i've ever listened to.
As tired and formulaic I think windmill scene has become, Robin Callaway is still able to pull it off incredibly well on None Deserved. The more singles I hear, the more excited for the new album I become.
The goat just does not miss.
The ideas once explored on the Dirty Little Car EP have now come to fruition.
This is quite easily Trout’s best work so far. The jazz influences have been turned up a notch, and our lord and savior continues to expand his sound by adding a hefty touch of IDM and Electronica. I very much enjoy the blending of IDM, Jazz, and Experimental Hip Hop on this record. Another notable thing is that the majority of the songs here are actual listenable songs and not just jokes. While there is still ... read more
I may have underrated this one.
Our lord and savior, Trout’s work has a very different feel in a live setting. On first listen, I regarded this as a bad thing. Now, I have come to see the error in my ways. Live from the Scary House has a very improvisational feel to it. It almost has a jazzy vibe to it due to everything being done on the spot. This improvisational feel actually works really well for songs like Aglet and damn. It’s interesting and I hope to see more live works that ... read more
Honestly might be our lord and savior’s best outing. The genre switch to industrial works very well, and I hope we see more of it in the future.
I’m disappointed but also not.
The Ghost-Pop Tape is an album that has a huge amount of mystique and acclaim around it. Everything I heard about it led me to believe it was some grand, deep, personal experience. Peggy’s magnum opus. Because of that, I went in with overblown expectations. I expected some deep, abstract, depressive work of art à la deathconsciousness. Instead I got some suicidal chud whining about a shitty relationship he’s in. I’m okay with that, ... read more
It’s an improvement from Around the Fur for sure. It feels a lot more put together and a lot cleaner. The hits from this one really hit too!
When the weakest performance in your show is monheim you know you're doing something right.
This is incredible, but for however incredible it may be, I can’t help the feeling that everything they did here was done better on Petrodragonic Apocalypse. It feels almost like a first draft of sorts, like a test run for Petrodragonic. It still has a few highlights, but I can’t help but feet like this is just a less refined version of Petrodragonic.
Is it perfect? Not by any means, but it scratches almost every itch in my brain and that’s good enough for me.
This is amazing but it could have been mixed so much better. I get that it’s just some guy on SoundCloud, but still, the mixing here kinda sucks ngl. Honestly it makes me angry because this is really meaningful and really interesting but the mixing is so lackluster and genuinely bad at times. I hope this dude keeps going and improving because he seems like he could make something truly spectacular somewhere down the line.
One of the lushest albums I have ever listened to. It feels like hiking in a rainforest after it rains.
