This is Rocky’s best album. Can’t wait for Don’t Be Dumb. The production is on point and cements Rocky as a forerunner for psychedelic experimental hip-hop. 2015 was such a great year for rap with albums such as; TPAB, Rodeo, DS2, Barter 6, 2014 Forest Hills Drive, IYRTITL, and B4.Da.$$, diversifying the game.
Favorite Song - Fine Whine/Jukebox Joints
This album surprised me so much. Right after listening to both of Boldy James’ collaborative albums with Nicolas Craven I went to this album. It is honestly a work of art, I love jazz-infused rap and somehow Boldy James can make nearly any alternative production work with his rap style. Compared to his other albums Boldy James seems engaged and more lyrical than ever.
Favorite song - Detroit River Rock/The Middle of Next Month
I'm not a huge Billie Eilish fan, but she has definitely matured as an artist and I'm thinking this might be her best album yet.
Favorite Song - CHIHIRO
Passionate journeys of songs that express rollercoasters of prideful, energetic, and insightful melodies. I was lucky enough to see BCUC live and the energy was intense though appealing, while they also mastered the usage of strong vocal layering. A beautiful combination of Afrobeats, soul, rock, and psychedelic sounds. For their debut album BCUC had created a more background sound track then a immersive environment.
Favorite Song - Yinde
First half of the album was kinda hard ngl then '7 to 7' played and all the slow songs made the album mid. 'One Bad Decision' was the only good chill song imo. I was really wishing there would be some kenny on this but still a lot of the westside rappers carried the album.
Favorite Song - Pressured Up
I mean it was better than I thought. Flows were trash, production was aight, Features carried, most generic themes, overall boring. His voice annoys me now. Being 32 with 'Rich the Kid' as a name is wild. Sounds like the worst version of Young Thug, Free Thugger. Also listening to 'Tell Me' ruined my day.
Favorite Song - Louie Coat
Best workout album of the year so far. Denzel is so consistent and is on a crazy album run right now. The features and the production never outshines, but instead works with Denzel's distinct rap style. How is this man still underrated?
Favorite Song - HOT ONE/WISHLIST/HOODLUMZ
This was really bad. I only gave it a 50 because of some of the production, blocking out the lyrics. Sadly, I don't think Kanye is going to have a comeback. This album was very disappointing, the lyrics were all on one theme, other than those times that Kanye started ranting. Its nearly impossible to separate the art from the artist with this album
