Steven McKellar from Civil Twilight was invited to participate in the Linkin Park & Friends Celebrate Life in Honor of Chester Bennington, as one of Chester Bennington's favorite bands, according to an interview with Mike Shinoda. This is how I got to know the band.
For me, the songs (especially the vocals) have some vibe of dream pop and post-rock (Sigur Rós?). Their songs give me the feeling of calm after a rainstorm.
