Pure soulless music. The lyrics sound like they were written by someone who lost all their brain cells after a 10-hour Jenkem binge. I'm sure the board room full of 60-year-old execs loves the bad publicity this fucking shit has generated because, at the end of the day, they're still making money—lots of it.
I mean it sounds fine, but I don't know if it's just me or his heart is not really in it anymore.
After making a half-trap album with ... And Then You Pray For Me, and half-interlude EP with 11 his return to boom bap feels shaky. He's notorious for never writing his verses and knocking them out in one go and it shows on this album. He kinda has nothing to talk about anymore. And the beats, the reason I've been so enamored with his music all these years, feel generic and ... read more
HOLY FUCK this is awful. They should've never let him pick up a mic.

But shit like Disgusting and LL BOOL GUNN is inexcusable.

I TRIED TO LIKE THIS!
Jean Dawson on this record sounds like every 2010's pop R&B singer ever. The songs have nothing interesting about them. The attempts at experimentation don't stick at all. The cringy ascending melody and budget Yeezus-era production ... read more
Whole album is beyond gorgeous. Cocoon tho. Something magical happened in that recording.

As much as I want to call this a meandering mess, there is something about this album that has kept me coming back to it over and over for nearly a year. Its stunning airy atmosphere is difficult to pull me away from.
