underscores has created an album that will resonate with the hyperpop scene probably forever. 'fishmonger' is a clever, fun, unique, and immersive album experience filled with catchy vocals and instrumentals and genuinely one of the best hyperpop albums I've ever heard. I love the happy vibe and feeling this album maintains throughout the entire tracklist. This album has made underscores one of my favorite artists currently and I am definitely intrigued what she will make next.
'mainstream sellout' is a pretty ironic name considering how shit this album is. MGK's 2020 album 'Tickets to my Downfall' set a pretty low bar for him and it would be pretty hard to make something worse than that album, especially with the potential I can see MGK having in the pop-punk scene, but somehow he fucking failed to do that. This album is genuinely one of the worst follow up albums I've ever heard. Despite the singles being absolute dogshit, I still had high hopes for this album ... read more
I genuinely don't think Phoebe Bridgers can make a bad album. Her debut 'Stranger in the Alps' was a piece of art and I could tell Phoebe really made sure that the album was perfect. I knew Phoebe could do better still though, which brings us to 'Punisher'. This project is better than SitA in every way possible. The instrumentals are more experimental, her vocal range sounds bigger in a lot of different parts in the album which further shows how good of a vocalist Phoebe really is, the ... read more
This is one of the few albums that has left me genuinely speechless. One of the most emotional and beautiful albums that has ever been created. Even after 2 years of hearing this for the first time it still leaves me in shock. I can't even highlight the good parts on the album because in all honesty, this album is a masterpiece. Holy shit.
Deftones is a band that has grown on me the past couple of months. It took a while to get into their music but after a few listens of some of their songs, I was in love. I'm not usually someone to like hard-rock/metal but Deftones changed my mind on those genres completely. 'Saturday Night Wrist' is one of the most creative albums I've heard in a while. It's very a versatile project that shows all sides of Deftones creativity and diversity. Chino's vocals are also fucking beautiful in some ... read more
I'm actually speechless. Never thought I would be saying that to a Lil Yachty album, but here we are. It's pretty obvious and easy to say that Let's Start Here is Yachty's magnum opus. Although heavily inspired by the likings of Tame Impala, Pink Floyd, and other psychedelic rock/pop artists and bands, Let's Start Here is an emotional, unique, and diverse take on the genre. While there are some boring parts of the album, every song feels like it fits well on the album, making the album a whole ... read more
I would consider Currents to be the OK Computer of our generation. The Dark Side of the Moon of the modern psychedelic music scene. Tame Impala has created an forever lasting album. I bet that in 20 years, all the TikTok kids of the future are going to be trying to gatekeep the shit out of this album, mark my words on that. Currents is timeless and Tame Impala will forever have a special place in our hearts, regardless of what happens. It formed the current psychedelic pop genre and has ... read more
frailty: the condition of being weak and delicate
Frailty is an album that I would consider to be the defining project for hyperpop and indietronica. An album that literally makes you feel like its definition, weakness and delicacy. Frailty, to me, is an album that uses its flaws to its advantage to create a full listening experience. Jane Remover was able to create something emotional, nostalgic, and heartbreaking all at the age of 18. The songwriting is absolutely incredible and the ... read more
"What's your go to album during hard times?", she asked me. I looked at what was currently playing on the AUX in my car. The lyrics 'I hate to say it, but your sister was right' were playing through my speakers. A few moments later I responded, "This one".
This album has helped me more than anything ever has. I'm not scared to admit that I've cried to this album a few times in the past, but we don't have to talk about that. Your City Gave Me Asthma by Wilbur Soot is a ... read more
This is written 2 years after the album came out. These are my thoughts prior to listening to the album, but way before I Didn't Mean To Haunt You came out.
After waiting for what felt like decades we finally have it. From Me To You. I have no words. Never in a million years would I think a YouTube rapper like Quadeca would be able to produce such a beautiful, emotional, and well-executed album like From Me To You. The production and lyrics are all mind-blowing on this album, like genuinely ... read more
I am writing this review a few months after the project was completed, but here are my initial thoughts on the album:
I am completely and utterly speechless... Quadeca is an artist that has grown on me in the past couple of years, and for multiple reasons. His 2021 project, From Me To You, set a high bar for former YouTube rapper. I enjoyed FMTY a lot as I thought it had many emotional parts and is overall just a sentimental project to listen. While it was nowhere near perfect, I saw the ... read more
I'm not even going to lie when I say that I'm extremely thankful for 100 gecs. I found them when COVID was first starting and they quickly grew on me. Not really sure how if I'm being honest. Hyperpop, especially the type that 100 gecs made, was definitely not something that I would usually listen to, but there was something about their chaotic music, use of random sounds, and overall just noisy production that really struck me. They made quarantine a lot better and allowed me to expand my ... read more
I actually respect NF a lot as an artist and he used to be one of my favorite artists, but this is just disappointing. I've enjoyed a lot of his older projects, like a lot of songs off The Search, Therapy Session, and Mansion, but this just isn't it. While there are some enjoyable moments in this album, the experience as a whole is just boring. He has little to no progression from his previous CLOUDS and a lot of the songs on this album just sound the same. His lyrics have no diversity and the ... read more
