Another great one from MJ, while I think it is weaker than his previous two sonically there are still some incredibly high highs here with some of his best songs (Smooth Criminal, D.D., etc) I think it is a bit less great then the others so far as an album but it is still one I could see myself going back to all the tracks at some point.
I can’t decide whether I like this or OTW more, both display Michaels talent in distinct yet similar ways at the same time while leaving you feeling satisfied. Thriller has some of his best production and songwriting of his career (especially the title track, I mean sheesh) and because of that you can see why this album is as highly regarded as it is.
Michael really went 10 for 10, I will be going back to every track here because each has something great to offer and you can tell how much passion was put into each song, this album is one of the few that I would truly call timeless despite disco losing it’s popularity over time.
These songs sounded like every drake r&b song ever but with absolutely nothing that make said songs good back in his heyday, this is the one I expected to be the best because it was the shortest but he managed to bore me in that 40 minutes more than he ever did on any of his other projects.
There were a few good songs and it started and ended well but like every drake album as of late, quantity over quality is how I would describe this.
It’s cool how the song titles are people he looks up to. This album slaps, it’s fun to listen to and catchy as hell, got a lot of fun bars too. Great album!
I know this album is a grower for a lot of people but I absolutely love the soundscape Abel created with this album, every down to the music videos is pure cinema. There isn’t a whole lot that sounds like this album and I love that about it, I wish more people could appreciate this because in my opinion it is his best album purely for the experimental nature of it.
I got recommended this guy so I figured I’d start with the debut, and I can’t say it disappointed. I really enjoyed his flows and lyricism, that is absolutely his strong suit, the production while solid in its own right, wasn’t in my opinion as strong. This guy kind of reminds me of Earl Sweatshirt but with his own unique and raw take on covering the rough parts of his life.
Sounds like it copied every other actually good album in this genre, and mushed it into a gross and grimy blend of dogshit. Who’s idea was it to make an ai album, because they should be fired.
Doechii shows a lot of promise on this mixtape, I like how she goes from rap to r&b, shows some versatility. I know she gets hate because of her one song which I won’t name, I thinks it is a shame that it overshadows her other quality work because she has a lot of potential.
Really great album, I love Simz pen game it has just enough humor and meaning to it to work really well. The features are also really awesome and the chemistry between her and them is on point. I have no complaints about this one.
The album starts out very good and then after that it becomes kind of forgettable with some really good tracks scattered throughout, ultimately Drakes best output of the 2020s I’ve heard but still doesn’t hold a torch to his run from 2009 to 2016.
Also that One More Time sample was severely underutilized, WTF Drake!!!!
A step in the right direction for sure sonically for Kanye, but sadly the album feels like it is missing the soul of his older projects because the lyrics are very watered down seemingly to avoid offending people too much, and much of the tracks feel kind of unfinished. On the production side however i am impressed because this is some of his best production since Donda and maybe even 2018. I am really hoping the album will get updates eventually because there is a lot of untapped potential.
I love the chaotic and explosive sound on this album, I think I could definitively say I’ve never heard anything like it, and for that I give props only a very specific kind of artist can pull that off.
Also I gotta add, that Danny Brown feature is like top 10 most logical collabs of all time.
This dude put together a very unique soundscape, I like his style of genre-bending. I am a huge fan of artists that defy the boundaries of their genres so I’m all in for supporting this.
The moody sound of this album is so good, I go back to this every now and then and it engrosses me almost immediately, I don’t know who the vocalist is but he is the absolute best part of this album, his falsetto is absolute peak!
Not my typical rap sound, but I like what I hear either way. The lyrics are hella entertaining and well written, and paired well with some really cool production. You can tell Q put a lot of thought into making this.
