Actual perfection. Completely blown away. Amazing guitar riffs and solo's. Songwriting is flawless. Instantly in my top 5 favorite albums ever made.
Balloonerism was for the longest time a secret mysterious psychedelic rap masterpiece, beloved by hardcore fans, but largely unknown by the public. Now in the lovely year 2025 the album has posthumously been formally released.
First off, this thing sounds amazing. Just like the reissue of Faces and Circles, everything sounds incredibly atmospheric and polished. A song like DJ’s Chord Organ is only as good as its production, since it's largely an atmospheric soundscape. Mac ... read more
Eusexua is a true breath of fresh air. My first 2025 album listen, and it’s a great one. Even with all the critical accolades, I was still a tad bit sceptical. All the snippets I heard sounded alright, but nothing earcatching. However hearing all these bits coming together is extremely gratifying.
The album starts off with five incredible tracks. Eusexua is actual perfection, and works much better as an opener than a single in my opinion. It sets the mood of this spacious and tender EDM ... read more
This review took a while to come out for, well, obvious reasons. Kanye’s crashout on Twitter was both an example of his declining mental and physical health and his absolute attention addiction. His hunger for the spotlight used to produce a creative Ye, now it produces a pretend-Nazi, because his musical talents have completely dried out.
Luckily for us, Kanye has released plenty of music when he was actually a functioning creative. Late Registration is probably his best album, and ... read more
Abbey Road is an obvious classic that I had never actually finished until a few weeks ago. I’m glad to say that The Beatles didn’t disappoint. The strongest aspect of Abbey Road in my opinion is its immaculate A-Side. Come Together is an addictive, groovy and nasty little Blues Rock tune, followed by a sweet Harrison love-song. Oh! Darling is classic R&B at its best, with some amazing and passionate vocals. Octopus’s Garden is some nice classic Beatles psychedelia, ... read more
I really wanted to love this album. As someone already familiar with the first three tracks, I expected a creative but still fun album. What I ended up getting is a lot more self indulgent and uninteresting than I expected. This album prides itself in its experimentation and artsyness, but forgets what actually makes a good song after the familiar first leg of the album.
OK, but I do like those first three tracks quite a bit. Tender is a cute Folk Rock tune with some really nice harmonized ... read more
I’ve always been interested in listening to more Alternative Metal albums, specifically System Of A Down. I love B.Y.O.B., Chop Suey! and Sugar, but I never delved into one of their full length albums. Toxicity, by many considered their best, is everything I could’ve wanted from a full length album from SOAD.
My favourite aspect of this album is the vocals. Both the main vocalist Serj Tankian and Daron Malakian are incredible. Their vocal dynamic is instantly apparent on the first ... read more
Duster is an album, by many considered an Indie Rock essential, that I have some complicated thoughts on. While it’s an enjoyable project, there are just too many apparent flaws for me to ignore.
But first the positives.
The guitar tones are consistently amazing. Gold Dust has guitars that sound like a warm hug. Topical Solution’s guitars sound emotionally scarred, or like an old friend. Inside Out’s tone has been memed to death for sounding very emotionally drained and ... read more
Just a small disclaimer before this review starts: I listened to this album two days ago, which is also the day that David Lynch, writer and co-producer of this album, sadly passed away. A really tragic coincidence, and I’ll try to not let that affect my opinion on this album.
Alright now for the review.
This is an album made in large by three people:
Vocalist Julee Cruise, producer Angelo Badalamenti and writer/producer David Lynch.
Their dynamic is incredible on this album and each ... read more
Listened to this on a whim. Tried delving into Bossa Nova and stumbled onto this album. The immediate standout being Vanoni's vocals as she carries this entire project on her back. This is a mostly unknown album, I'm the first to actually review it, but the vibes are just too good to not leave my thoughts on it. Opener Senza paura is my personal favourite.
Amazing. This album is so simply brilliant, completely unhateable. Moonage Daydream is a personal favorite of mine.
Jeff Buckley is an absolutely incredible vocalist, and a very good songwriter on top of that. One of the best things to come out of the 90's, combining every great sound to come out that deacde. The title track also might be one of the greatest songs ever made.
Debut solo-project from the frontman of the amazing band Geese. This album is pretty much nothing like 3D Country, placing heavy emphasis on ballads, and Cameron incorporating his more soulful voice (like on the track Domoto from 3D Country, which is the closest that album gets to sounding like this). Some amazing vocal perfromances on this thing, with some really nice backing instrumentation. The piano ballads were especially fantastic.
Another good album by Kendrick. This one defenitely feels rushed, there's more misses than usual, and the good songs are missing something to make them actually fantastic. Kendrick's energy, while still pretty good, is lower than on other tracks from him this year. Still an enjoyable experience, but just a bit incomplete.
Really cool and revolutionary album for it's time. 1978 is an insane year for how futuristic this thing sounds. The opener is a personal favorite of mine. Also German version superior.
My first listen of a full Bowie album (I’ve only ever heard individual tracks).
Changes is a super enjoyable and catchy opener. The earworm of Ch-Ch-Ch-Changes is so brilliant and one of a kind. Great instrumentation as well. The following song Oh! You Pretty Things takes some time to get going, but when that first chorus hits: damn! Super solid track.
And let’s address the elephant in the room here: Life on Mars? is phenomenal. When the discussion of ‘best song of all ... read more
Was suprised by how layered and atmospheric this album was. Really solid songs all around, but holy shit that second track! Incredible.
