Weirdly beautiful and impossible to pin down, TNT was a fulcrum, a place where the musical values of the past (instrumental proficiency, deliberate composition) met the digital future.
Tortoise remain a strange animal, a jam band slung between studio and stage that outlaws improvisation. TNT meanders, but it's a meandering expertly defined by the editing razor.
Thank you papa Pitchfork for this amazing recommendation! It is post rock that suits my ears better than what Swans was doing at this time (though that isn't bad). It has a jazzy feel to it while also fitting in seamlessly with the indie sound of the 90s. I was constantly impressed by the musicianship but not in an annoying way like Dream Theater. It was a great listen through and through and cant wait to revisit.
very chill but a bit plain at points imo, i wasn't bored though so i like it anyways
The sounds on this are really atmospheric and entrancing and very well made. Also it's kind of shocking to me that there isn't a show or movie(that I can find) that is soundtracked by this, it's so perfect for that type of thing.
