i underestimated the Sac

Ween - Boston Chicken
70

this is such a tame song, makes sense why they originally marked it as "not so sure" for the original tracklist back in '95

Ween - Shinola, Vol. 1
87

how did i survive without this

Dylan Wyatt Gordon - Squidward Yell
100

this video comes up on my mind once in a while and it never gets stale

Vangelis - 1492: Conquest of Paradise
100

i never watched the movie but my mom had this soundtrack and i used to sleep to it. this and the Bejeweled 2 OST indubitably were big parts in defining my taste for new age, kinda classical/orchestral/ambiencey music paired with a lil electronic pizazz. Excursions, way later, reinforced it.
Conquest of Paradise might be one of my favorite songs ever

Shpongle - Are You Shpongled?
89

not the fart snare bruhther 🤧🤧🤒🤒😷

Ween - The Long Beach Island Tape
87

Wife is the cutest ween song ever, i just wanna squish gener's lil left cheek or somethign. ngl, i'm gonna copy his expression of love, i'm composing music to ask someone out

Parry Gripp - The Raining Tacos Saga

Churros over Israel (Chur-ros)
Churros over Little Saint James (Chur-ros)
Churros over North Korea (Chur-ros)
Can you resist the taste? (Churros from space)

SpongeBob SquarePants - The Yellow Album
100

rating the portuguese version for the tracks, at least the ones that were translated, because that's what i grew up on

most songs here make me too happy just by listening. all the childhood memories attributed to them and new memories from rewatching the show with a more mature point of view; the things that these songs represent in the context of the show, i couldn't give anything here a low score. if i rated this album on any other basis, i'd feel like squidward, and come on, ... read more

Tears for Fears - Songs from the Big Chair
100

i'm not sure what or where the Big Chair is but i really wanna sit on it now

The Rolling Stones - Their Satanic Majesties Request
82

the non chorus parts in In Another Land are VERY ratboygenius coded
The Lantern is great but the car horn brass sound is a big turn off for me
instrumental section of Gomper sounds like i'm about to get executed by a murderous indigenous tribe
the audio panning job is so satisfying in this album imo, headphones much recommended

Henri Sorvali - Angry Birds Epic! (Original Game Soundtrack) [Remastered Extended Edition]
80

honestly overqualifies for what the game is. not that the gameplay is bad but a lot of times it feels very anticlimactic paired with this soundtrack
perfect scores for the main and battle themes. (Angry Birds Epic Main Theme, You Call That A Stick?, Battle of Birds and Pigs, Moar Boars!, King Pig and his Manic Minions) i'm sorry man but they just fuck too hard
90 for Apocalyptic Hogriders (fanmade msm island ahh song) and Tinker Titan (i swear this one has been subconscious inspiration for ... read more

The Dean Ween Group - rock2
79

crappy background jams that smell like cigarettes. i will admit i still really like it but it's more of a guilty pleasure than anything, the mixing is really messed up, probably because of the lack of Andrew Weiss; but that's exactly what gives this album it's charm.
criticism aside, this definitely feels like the Dean side of Ween, though not in the sense that it's missing something, it actually stands up as it's own thing, even if it's not the best thing

95

they're actually fantastic at doing latin music

Masked Wolf - Astronaut In The Ocean
37

i don't have tourettes but the start of this song has been like a tick to me for like 3 years atp and i'm only listening to it fully for the first time right now. it gets funny points

Linkin Park - Hybrid Theory
74

didn't grow up w it but wow, it just SCREAMS "teenager" doesn't it?

chocolate & cheese isn't brown enough for my taste... chocolate & cheese deluxe edition is way too brown for my taste...

"they're also notorious for having b-sides and unreleased content that are straight up better sometimes than normal releases. "The Mollusk Sessions" and "Caesar Demos" (they're in the "miscellaneous" section of ween's aoty page. caesar is basically outtakes from quebec) are fantastic shows of their talent, because at the end it leaves you wondering how they could leave out all those things. imo, i like the demo version of if you could save yourself better than the final. there's just so much more raw emotion"

"@Xploder it is only the natural progression of things. you have now become one with the brown. i suggest you watch the entire live in chicago show on youtube. i've discovered it's the best thing for getting someone into ween and to understand them. it's also just a great fucking performance and if i could travel to any place from any time that show is unironically in my top 10 (the album version of live in chicago is shortened so doing it on youtube is better. and also more fun. i made a whole concert in my room with that video)"

"also, when you cover C&C, be sure to listen to the deluxe version. there's almost double the amount of songs from the original"
On Artemiy_Kopych's review of Ween - The Pod
"pure guava is considered to be their most "brown" album. brown is a term used by weeners to describe something that is "wrong, but in a good way" also i'd like to point out that they're not a band to be taken seriously, that's kinda their whole philosophy. most of their songs were made outta fun, based on things that happened on their life, people they know, things they saw, random ideas generated from drug use, inside jokes, etc. like the whole The Stallion quintology (yes, there's 5 parts) for example, is based on a sassy horse that they saw during their time living on a ranch"
On Xploder's review of Ween - Quebec
"so i like to think that they went "hey here's a strangely normal record coming from us, yeah we can just do that" as to show how skilled they really are"
On Xploder's review of Ween - Quebec
"@Xploder fun fact about that one. (from what i've heard) the main motive for white pepper being created was that so maybe they could extend the contract with their label longer by making a hit, and that's why it sounds so apart from anything else they've made"

"The Mollusk and White Pepper are two other great and accessible ween records if you wanna get into them btw. i'd recommend the pod due to it's symbolic similarities to quebec but that one is a lot more of an acquired taste, unless you wanna hear more like "the fucked jam""

"also tho i'm not cultured, it doesn't really mean my ear hasn't picked up any sound at all throughout my life. it just means that i'm getting started on actually looking into artists and how their reputation is. that and i also compose music, play the acoustic guitar and study music theory myself, so i'm not a numbnut"
On Brogotmehyped's review of Ween - Transdermal Celebration
"@Brogotmehyped they're not meant to be taken seriously, that's the band's whole philosophy. music is a form of expression and they just do it all for good fun rather than success or creating something "properly" composed, and if you dislike that it's probable that you're just pessimistic, hence my comment. you have to savour black licorice a couple times to understand what the taste is trying to convey"

"@Xploder you could do your own research/interpretation of the songs and their lyrics, personally i try to really see what the original artist's intentions were. i think genius annotations also have some contextualization for the what and whys of each of the album's tracks so you could look for that too"

"there's still more i could talk about"
On Xploder's review of Ween - Quebec
"the band is not meant to be taken seriously, that's their philosophy. it's not "trying to be different", most songs in this album have an inspiration behind them and they execute those ideas perfectly The Argus tells the story of Argus Panoptes, a many-eyed giant in greek mythology. the lyricism is beautiful and the mixing on the song itself is very well thought of Zoloft and Happy Colored Marbles are both about what anti-depressants feel like, tho HCM is ambiguous because the marbles could also represent how some people when in relationships, just pressure their partner with their own personal problems Transdermal Celebration is about experiencing a nuclear explosion while on hallucinogens, the official music video shows that better"
