Do NOT disrespect Green Day like that 😭🙏

Yeat - Wake Up Call
25

Yeat manages to show glimpses of what his sound will ultimately culminate to in later projects on his debut mixtape “Wake Up Call” - just, unfortunately, these glimpses aren’t that great. With a runtime of a mere 17 minutes there already isn’t much sustenance to pull from - making the fact that the majority of tracks are duds just that much more hard-hitting. While this project shows potential in certain areas, I wouldn’t categorize it as a good debut for Yeat.

BigXthaPlug - 6WA
70

This LP from the rap group fronted by BigXThaPlug serves as a great first impression on the group’s skills and sound we can expect from them. While paying homage to some of the greats of rap - a lot of great tracks with catchy flows were produced. A Snoop Dogg feature makes this project all the more exciting - creating anticipation to see what is next for the group’s future.

Stone Temple Pilots - Tiny Music... Songs from the Vatican Gift Shop
30

I will never understand why, after two PHENOMENAL albums, STP decide to completely change their sound - everything from how their guitar riffs are structured to the vocals. The project as a whole is rather boring, a complete 180 relative to their two prior projects. While some tracks like “Trippin’ On A Hole In A Paper Heart” and “ Ride the Cliché” are respectable tracks, these few good performances cannot save STP from the rest of the tracks along with the ... read more

J. Cole - Born Sinner
95

If this album was trimmed down and more confined like2014 FHD, it may be J. Cole’s best work.

J. Cole - Cole World: The Sideline Story
85

J. Cole showcases his ability to write catchy hooks with tracks like “Lights Please”, “Can’t Get Enough”, and, of course, “Work out” - All while still rapping at a very high level.

Clipse - Let God Sort Em Out
100

Everyone knows this album is an instant classic. Intertwining amazing rapping performances and iconic Pharrell production sets this album as an all time great.

JID - DiCaprio 2
90

JID continues to prove he’s one of the most talented rappers out currently with “DiCaprio 2”. From the production to the lyricism, while also including exciting features like J. Cole and Joey Bada$$, JID solidifies a very, very solid project.

The Cranberries - No Need to Argue
80

The Cranberries produced a lot of catchy and authentic songs in their second project, “No Need To Argue”. Some songs tell stories, some describe the yearning we feel when we can’t be near the ones we love. Nonetheless, The Cranberries, despite one or two misses for me personally on this LP, put out another phenomenal post-Smiths alternative record.

Baby Keem - Ca$ino
90

Going into this album, my biggest critic in Baby Keem is that he hadn’t truly found his sound. Despite large improvements from his two initial mixtapes to his first LP, I still felt as if something was missing. The leap that Baby Keem took with this album compared to his last LP, The Melodic Blue, is truly remarkable and has to be accounted for in the rating of this album. From catchy melodic songs like “Dramatic Girl” and “Birds and the Bees” to hard hitting, ... read more

Prince and The Revolution - Purple Rain
100

“Purple Rain” by Prince is an iconic album that will live on forever. From amazing and unique guitar performances in songs like “When Doves Cry” to more catchy pop-centered tracks like “I Would Die 4 U”; Purple Rain seems to be everything that anyone could possibly want. That is all without even mentioning the almost 9 minute long, emotional title track - which is likely one of the greatest songs of all time. Prince truly accomplished something unique, ... read more

Steve Lacy - Gemini Rights
70

“Gemini Rights” by Steve Lacy demonstrates what can be produced when high-quality production is intertwined with catchy guitar riffs and songs you can sing along to. While this album doesn’t do a ton for me personally, it is most certainly a good album with a lot of great cuts on it.

Baby Keem - The Sound of Bad Habit
60

This mixtape does what it’s meant to do; it’s not a deep, lyrical masterpiece - but it fits perfectly into the catchy, hypnotic rap scene that encapsulated 2018. Some great flashes from a fresh on the scene Baby Keem

Mercyful Fate - Melissa
80

It’s truly albums like these that stand out as influential pieces that built the metal scene we know today

Kendrick Lamar - Overly Dedicated
75

Real solid album from Kendrick with a lot of great tracks. Sets himself up nicely for the career he continues to establish

JAY-Z - Reasonable Doubt
100

One of the greatest Hip Hop albums of all time.

J. Cole - The Fall-Off
95

J. Cole did not disappoint with what is meant to be his final album. 2014 FHD is still unbeatable and the king of his discography.

The Beatles - Please Please Me
75

This album, centered around catchy lyrics and instrumentals, serves as a great start to the infamous career The Beatles had. The lyrics do tend to lack depth though, in my opinion.

JID - The Forever Story
95

JID justifies his case for being one of the best rappers out now with this album. Phenomenal production, lyricism, storytelling - it’s like we’re watching J. Cole restart his career.
