There's something weirdly nostalgic and futuristic with the sound of this album.
I think at the time that not only it's product of its time cause it's being from early-2010s when 80s synthpop is on the dawn of revival, but also the prove from CHVRUCHES that they wrote and arranged such cathartic yet thoughtful materials, despite a few songs felt a bit draw out.
8.6/10, it's a solid debut.
Solid yet enjoyable mid-90s trip hop album! I bought the second hand limited edition CD release around 2024 and the sound quality is chef-kiss!
Highlights: Low Place Like Home, 6 Underground, Becoming X, Spin Spin Sugar, Post-Modern Sleaze
Deep cuts: Tesko Suicide, Waterbaby, Wasted Early Sunday Morning, Walking Zero
Choice cuts: Roll On, How Do

If this album is a life then I wanna live and die in it!!!
Second half sounds a lot more consistent and allow me to say, psychedelic and interestingly varied than first half. Overall, one of the strongest debut album ever made~
First half feels like the craziest guilty pleasure and then second half are like the craziest blunt rotation to experience.
