Blue Iverson - Hotep

Blue Iverson is an artist I came across quite randomly whilst letting a Spotify Mix Playlist accidentally go on for too long - which ended up leading me to the song “Hush Money” from this album.

Immediately something within me really enjoyed how incredibly soft and romantic the song felt - and how this was done with such simplicity. Very simple bass line, very simple drums, and simply incredibly lush vocals from the female vocalist.

A huge part of me decided to let this album just ... read more

The Start Of Something Truly Amazing

During the late end of 2024, I began getting into an artist which has been on my radar, and I had seen around quite often in music discussions where I associated in, that being JPEGMAFIA himself.

I initially began listening to him through one of his more iconic songs, being “Jesus Forgive Me, I Am A Thot”, which jumpstarted my now everlasting love and deep interest in abstract and experimental rap + hip/hop.

Ever since then, I have taken it ... read more

Unbelievable.
This album has me in a chokehold I cannot begin to fathom or explain truly and fully in any amount of words.

Billy Woods is an artist i’ve had my radar on for awhile now.
Obviously this was governed a lot by how he is rated incredibly on this website, but also how impressive and loaded his lyrics seemed to be from what I observing from reviews that spoke about him.

Finally, I took the decision to sit my ass down and finally listen to one of his albums for the first ... read more

Black Metal 2 by Dean Blunt - A Piece Of Art Which Resonates With My Soul Deeper Than Anything I’ve Listened To Ever

Dean Blunt is a very particular artist to me, so much that i’ve completely forgotten how I even discovered him in the first place.

His presence online and his overall “character” is so bizarre and from what it seems purposefully unclear, and from my experience with Black Metal 2, and many other songs from his discography, this peculiar approach he takes ... read more

A Trip Through Kali's Mind

Isolation - 9.9/10

Body Language - 10/10, already kali kicks this album off with the most refreshing bossa nova/tropical aesthetic ever, already capturing what this album sound is, and already she shows off how dreamy she is able to make her vocals and how well she can resonate with the instrumental, the sax in this honestly is what makes this song HIT for me personally, and kali once again feels like she is floating on all the instrumentals with her really ... read more

Azealia Banks - 1991

wish she kept her consistency

1991 - 9.7/10

1991 - 10/10, ive always held 1991 as one of my favourite azealia bank songs of all time, i personally feel like this is the absolute PEAK of her music and really showcases what style and aesthetic of her entire brand she attempts to go for, because everything about this song is damn near perfect
azealia consistently showcases her ability to song write, her ability to flow over instrumentals, and more importantly, her punchy ass delivery too.
and of ... read more

Joey Bada$$ - 1999

Summer Knights - 9.8/10, starting the album off REALLY strong with a really beautiful blend of soul R&B and rap, joey creates such a soothing and atmospheric track with the really spacious synths and soft but hard hitting drums in the background, this is complemented well with his rather soft but still powerful delivery of his lines across the entire song. great stuff already

Waves - 9/10, absolutely loving how laid back this track feels, the really gentle guitar synth keys and drum all ... read more

Madvillain - Madvillainy

Madvillany - 9.2/10

The Illest Villans - 9.5/10, this is hands down one of the best introductions to an album i have ever listened to, it literally feels like a grand introduction to this "Madvillan" character that DOOM plays across this album, the low level guitar drum and kick, with the superhero cartoon like dialogue is an absolute perfect way to describe what DOOM was trying to present with his character and his music on the album.

Accordion - 10/10, i adore accordion for ... read more

kaytranada and paak. are a match made in heaven

recently i have been diving back into KAYTRANADA's discography to find tracks i havent listened to for awhile or i've generally forgotten and Twin Flame has stood out to me VERY significantly.

KAYTRANADA and Paak. once again prove that they work excellent together, and in my opinion, this is a perfect example of a producer and vocalist being able to work seemingly perfectly with eachother
Paak. seems to flow so well over the ... read more

Steve Lacy - The Lo-Fis

Atomic Vomit - 9.4/10, this is a relatively groovy and honestly funky track to start the whole album off, i really love how laid back and chill both the instrumental and vocals are, lacy sounds very soft in his delivery without him being unable to be heard, and as usual he really floats off of the instrumental really god damn well.

When I - 7.8/10, for what this track is (being very short and being on an album with no true theme) this song is really soothing to listen to, especially in the ... read more

Joey Bada$$ - 2000

The Baddest - 10/10, this has to be one of the most perfect intros to an album ive heard in awhile, the instrumental really dosent do much in terms of intensity or layering but the simple grand piano and simple drum beat in the back really make this intro feel GRAND in itself, whilst still being laid back in a way, and of course the flow and lyricsm over this is pretty much perfect and makes the song progress in a really nice way, good shit so far

Make Me Feel - 9.5/10, i dont say this often ... read more

Thundercat - The Beyond / Where the Giants Roam

Hard Times - 9.5/10, thundercat never fails to impress me with how lost i can get in many of his songs, and this track is a great example of this, thundercat generally has very spacious vocals, but this is heavily supported with the slow, gentle, and soft keys/bass (i dont know which one it is ill admit lmfao) overall making this song very god damn soothing to listen to. great stuff already

Song for the Dead - 10/10, im basically gonna be repeating myself for hard times, but oh my god this ... read more

Steve Lacy - Steve Lacy's Demo

Looks - 9/10, starting off this ep with a pretty damn funky ass song, i really love how laidback this sounds with the bass guitar and light drums, all combined with lacys (of course) soft vocals make this song really sweet in my opinion
i dont think ill be anle to say much about a lot of these songs on this project but thats okay !!

Ryd - 10/10, man i love how flirty this song is, something about this track really soothes my mind and basically makes me get lost in it too, obviously this is ... read more

KAYTRANADA - Timeless

Pressure - 9.2/10, this is such an explosive and eccentric start to the album and i absolutely love that, kaytranada already shows his ability to make such hard hitting and energetic ass songs simply with just an instrumental, and pressure is of course a great example of this, the loud ass drums, kick, and everything else comes together to make a snappy and very feel-good track, it dosent strech on for more than it needs to as well, making it even better.

Spit It Out - 9.7/10, kaytranada ... read more

Steve Lacy - Apollo XXI

Apollo XXI - 8.7/10

Only If - 10/10, this genuinely has to be the most touching and fitting song for me that steve lacy has ever made, the theme about looking back at your old self and telling them you'll be alright hits me so hard everytime i listen to it, and that can go for everything that has happened in your/my past, and alongside the really slow and gentle drums and guitar with the rest of the parts of the instrumental, this song comes out to be so sweet to me, although it is short, ... read more

Thundercat - Drunk

Rabbot Ho - pretty interlude to start the album off, already gives me a feel to how the rest of the album will be

Captain Stupido - 8.2/10, already im seeing that really charming humour that thundercat has and so easily interprets into his music so well, i genuinely feel like im having fun with how funky and funny this track is, and hell it even sticks with the theme of being "drunk", and as unserious as the song may be, that is honestly why i adore it a lot, im pretty sure ill see ... read more

Steve Lacy - Gemini Rights

Static - 8.9/10, the best way i can describe this track is with the phrase "awkwardly beautiful", there is no doubt steve lacy's voice is absolutely magnificent, but this song feels awkward to listen to with things like the cough followed along with the break of vocals following it, but still at the end this song progresses into something kinda beautiful in my opinion, the bass is heavy, the guitar is pretty, all makes me feel a really specific way hence why i almost adore this ... read more

Thundercat - It Is What It Is

Lost In Space / Great Scott - 10/10, this is such a perfect intro to this album, the whole aesthetic and feel behind all of this is so fucking soothing and the transition into interstellar love is AMAZING

Interstellar Love - 10/10, this shit is so beautiful man oh my god, the clashing of all the instruments in the instrumentals combined with thundercats vocals is so great, and not to forget that sexy sax at the end that carried the song right to the end.

I Love Louis Cole - 10/10, this ... read more

Drugstore - 10/10, im finding it so hard to create a review for this track soley because of how fucking amazing it is, kaytranada and idk manage to create the most soothing and beautiful atmosphere with the spacey vocals, soothing adlibs and background vocals, groovy and calming instrumental, and when everything comes together its genuinely incredible, ive loved this song for ages now and the more i listen to it the more i notice such small things that really make this song so create, the ... read more
