Wow, what a surprising miss from Peggy. Genuine disappointment from me. Flows were so unoriginal and bland throughout the album, the lyrics are some of the worst in his disco (STOP SAYING FUCKIN YOUR BITCH PEGGY WE GET IT), and not one track that truly stood out. Production was fantastic throughout the album and the only reason this is higher than it is but... I did not enjoy this. I hope peggy learns that this formula does not work and makes something different next time
I'm glad Denzel is having fun. Not his best work but not meant to. Its just having fun making some silly Florida trap songs. And that's okay.
unreal experience... death, thrash, and progressive metal in one album??? is it long? yes. but is it amazing? also yes.
Fantastic metal from Worm. Feels like Opeth meets black metal cousin. Awesome stuff.
Not really my kind of deathcore but I gave it a shot. Super fun faster pace djent style death core that hits hard but doesn’t keep me engaged unlike other releases this year . Will periodically play these songs but nothing crazy.
An absolute banger record with combo of amazing synths, great riffs, and simple vocals that packs a punch. I enjoy every song and glad they didn’t shorten the lengths. Way better than woe.
I can’t excuse immature lyrics with generic production. Some songs absolutely bang then others make me want to crash my car. First half was honestly great and I was wanting to give this like a 7 or even 8 but… that didn’t happen. I don’t hate Taylor or her music. She is a talented artist and I want to give her high scores but this ain’t it. Plus with her way of rolling out this album is just awful I feel bad for fans spending hundreds on 28 versions of this ... read more
Been giving it a few days and it’s great. Beautiful melodies with very upfront and instantly recognizable vocals. Def the harshest album I’ve heard all year. What holds it back from a 9-10 is just lack of umph that pushes it over the top. A lot of songs are not memorable. But honestly not a bad thing that is very difficult to do in post-black gaze. I feel the songs didn’t stay long enough as well for the genre. Longer songs might of helped with notability. But overall I ... read more
Much improvement from 2022 record with some ear candy cuts and some of the best metal/expirmental hip hop crossovers ive heard. With some good punk influence as well. Worth checking out if you like DG or clipping.
Probably my most anticipated of the year and wow. That was a journey to say the least. Their most dynamic, unpredictable, and progressive song writing they have ever released. No overfilling this with breakdown heavy music is a joy to listen to. Will Vocals float over Austin drums so damn well and will is so dynamic between us highs and lows. It didn’t feel as predictable as the previous work (which I love too). Adam’s guitars get an A too. Love what they did with his solos and ... read more
An absolutely weird, masterful, and incredible metal core record. I love Justin vocals more than ever. His range is insane with great fry screams to great gutterals and squeals. Mix that with avant-garde instrumentation you would hear on an imperial tri record then you get an amazing combo. Also includes some ear catching chorus which help me come back. Go support this band they are doing amazing stuff!!
Their most intense single including the most brutal breakdown so far for them this year. Great pace and not holding back with the instrumentation one bit. Almost Archspire esc speed with their drums and overall intensity and I think it is an explosive opener to their 5th record. Only part that was a bit dull was the solo and only because it’s just the worst part of all of it
JID just letting loose on this record and having fun. Taking advantage of his status and getting features he truly enjoys. While this is not his most comprehensive record to date. It still shows JID talent and ability to adapt. I will say the last 4 songs on the record is the direction I hope JID goes to in the future. Very moving and angelic. I like the atmospheric direction he went to. And also the Clispe feature was fantastic and one of the best of the year: overall this record isn’t ... read more
Rating is a bit low for what i would expect from jid but this is so overhated. While it isnt forever story quality it is still fun. Good verses from 6lack and Yatchy. Very fun and unserious. Em verse was pretty good. I am sure it is gonna get some hate but I thought it was his most quality verse in years. Only thing that could have improved it was cutting it a bit shorter. Felt like a MMLP2 quality verse.
From front to back this record hits so damn hard. Before i was just a fan on Blackwater Park and Ghost Reveries but lately this record has been hitting so damn hard. From the daunting and powerful The Moor to the beautfiul and chilling Face of Melinda. So much greatness on this. Maybe Mikael best singing to date. Just so much passion and emotion on this. It is not picture perfect but what he does well he does it so well.
As a life long clipping. fan that owns multiple pieces of their discography this record does not hit as hard as the others and I have not gone back to it as much as their older records. Just to preface that this record is not bad at all by any means. It has some fantastic tracks and shows why Daveed Diggs is one of the best of the generation flow and lyric wise. But comprehensivly this record just does not have the same pop and flare that TEAATB and VOBBB had. Those two records in my opinon are ... read more
Doesnt hit like her 2020 work but it still has some fantastic songs and blends the hardcore hip hop sound with experimental hip hop so well. Backxwash shows off some of her most emotional and venerable songs as well on this record with songs like 9th gate and Wake Up which for me was horrifying on first listen.
A very thoughtful and hard hitting record from simz but unfortunately does not top her best work but that isn't totally a bad thing still incredibly solid and brought out some of her best songs in Free and Blood.
