unsurprisingly, this is brilliant
love that he credits all the producers as features, but got gassed for an el-p verse that didn't exist :(
woods is an artist that has constantly had an eerie and defined sound (especially on hiding places), but this takes it to another level. it's terrifying and i love it, although some songs do act as a nice break in the fear factor (misery for example)
this album in on par with hiding places for me and my second favourite billy woods album behind ... read more
an incredibly solid release from simbi, and is well in contention to be the second best album in her catalog. the production on this sounds different to be for (to be expected because fuckass inflo isn't around anymore) but for the most part i prefer this new sound. obongjayar brings a strong performance as always, as does michael kiwanuka and sampha.
thief is absolutely my favourite from the album though, simz just sounds so angry and hungry on it in a way i haven't heard ... read more
unbelievable album, and my aoty so far, despite stiff competition (billy woods, saba, etc.). bpj was a great album in its own right, but on this album mckinley's music sounds even more developed. none of the jazzy elements sound out of place, even on some of the tracks where the style of rapping is slightly grittier than would normally be the case on this sort of song.
p.s icecoldbishop feature made me want to bust everywhere i love that guy so much

huge return to form for gunn after a few mid projects (still praying was an improvement but s+not as good as this). brother tom sos adds something really nice to the 2 tracks that he is on, and i hope he works with gunn and co more often in the future. heavenly beats are per usual, some of them are maybe a little generic but they still keep up with the lyricism here. favourite tracks - health science, adam page
its fine i guess?
okay maybe thats a bit of an overreaction. its a good album, but not quite as good as what i expect from abel. personally, my favourite projects of his are his early ones (house of balloons, echoes of silence) and even though i enjoy his newer works, they dont
capture the seem eerie, intriguing feel that those earlier projects have. a bizarre range of features here too, and most of them work surprisingly well. favourite tracks - wake me up, hurry up tomorrow
