After their debut and sophomore albums, as well as their two ambitious live records, I'm very surprised at how much this just retreads their previous sounds. The music is exquisitely produced and well written for the most part, but this is the first ever Parcels project that I've finished feeling like not much was accomplished.
This is what I wanted from Clancy. I think Clancy has a few higher highs, but this album across the board is much more consistent with each song feeling necessary unlike some of the songs on Clancy that felt like retreads. Feels nice to see the guys experimenting with new sounds again. Tyler's trying a lot of new things with his voice and his melodies here in a way that he never has. If this is a sign for their future, it's a good one.
When you're trying to do "lite-indie" and "lite-country" and don't commit to either fully, you just end up with "lite-music"
