EDIT: I can't believe I'm saying this but this actually might be his best. It grew on me even more lmao. Twist My Hair might genuinely be the greatest song ever made
OG review:
Out of every McKinley Dixon album, this is by far the one to have grown on me the most
McKinley is my #1 artist and has been for the past 7 months. His style of jazz rap/conscious hip hop is something I cannot get enough of. Ever since first listening to Magic Alive, I have not been able to stop listening to ... read more
crazy how you can make an argument for this being his best (this decade)
the beats on this album are consistently solid, and I think some songs showcase really great introspection from Drake. It's just that this album suffers from the same issues every other drake album has. Its writing is really weak, and it has a lot of bloat. But for me, the highs outshine a good portion of the lows. Make Them Cry is legit tho

his most underrated work by far.
Dixon's 2020 EP "The House That Got Knocked Down" is a downright fantastic showcase of all of McKinley's ideas laid out in 16 minutes. I'm not the biggest fan of a few songs here (allure and threat r just okay), and I really wish there ... read more
the score may not reflect it, but I actually sorta appreciate this album in a way.
I like that x is (attempting at least) to be vulnerable and personal, which is stuff you don't really get from some modern day rappers. Plus, I can't even lie, Jocelyn Flores is beautiful that song's great. The issue lies in the poor musicality demonstrated throughout. Still tho, even despite its angsty lyrics and awkward to sit through songs with weak production throughout, I can't really ... read more
yeah idk. already can't even digest what I just listened to and I don't even know if I "enjoyed" it.
but man that was pretty special
