Decent, but prefer Kiss The Ring by a long shot. Still am never gonna complain about more Rome Streetz
Nudy on a run, EA Monster was on constant play up until now, and before his last project even got stale to me, he blesses us with another great album. Key Glock feature was dope, just wish the 21 song did more for me. Somehow, the song with 21 and Nudy is the weakest on an album. Other than this though, only positive thoughts about this one, and I'm sure it will continue to grow on me.
Fell in love with this sound recently and this quenched my thirst for extra material perfectly. Some real gems on here, damn shame this isn't on streaming services. Hey, I is one of my favorite Thugger songs ever at this point. Great tape.
Why the hell have I never listened to this in full. This is a relentless project with all 3 migos killing almost every beat they hop on, with insane flows and catchy hooks. Fire mixtape.
Solid comeback from Culture III, and from both of their mediocre solo albums. Had some real drive here, but on top of all else, I think this cemented Takeoff's superiority to Quavo in my eyes.
CONDUCTOR WE HAVE A PROBLEM, CONDUCTOR WE HAVE A PROBLEM, CONDUCTOR WE HAVE A PROBLEM, CONDUCTOR!
Lil B's 2022 can only be described as a failed experiment, with horrendous instrumentals, often containing what sounds like 4 beats layered on top of each other, only for an over auto-tuned Lil B rambling about sex. However, the one liners and pure absurdity of these tapes continue to draw me in more and more, and Lil B never fails to surprise listeners. Can't lie, however, this album will never be returned to by my ears, at least I hope.
The run on the second half of the album starting with Heart of the City is wild, just track after track that match the next if not improving on them. One of the best runs in hip hop history IMO.
Man this record hit me. Knowing the backstory with his father's diagnosis it elevated this project to another level. The frantic short songs with quick transitions reminiscent of a mixtape almost seem to reflect on the urgent nature of him reacting to this horrible news about his father. Heartbreaking yet beautiful and smooth. This is a really good beat tape and one of the better instrumental rap projects I have heard in recent years for sure.
Bought tickets to the show. Love Flatbush and Meech was always my favorite so I was super stoked to see he was making a solo album. Lived up to expectations but not much higher. Very solid tape.
After 4 days, I have to say that I think this score will only go up from a 90. This album feels like it will be very repayable. Here, JID takes a victory lap, exploring themes covered on The Never Story in a more personal variation, with many styles and flows shown by JID. This is a massive statement in my opinion, and solidifies his catalogue into the next category up, with 3 solid albums under his belt. SUPER excited to see where JID goes next, because this project doesn't have a bad song, ... read more
Not impressed, most already released but even then, they are pretty standard and uninteresting tracks. Production is mediocre and no performance really stands out. Meh.
Maybe this sound is just getting stale to me, but the past few albums of this hyper pop inspired minimalist sound haven't sounded great to me. This one has been the best of the lot, however, with high highs, and 4 or 5 songs that I will return to without doubt. However, the rest kinda fade into mediocrity or less, and therefore the tape as a whole is nothing to remember.
Damn. I knew of Blu and Exile from their buzz in and around Stones Throw and DOOM, and I think I have heard features from Blu on various records, including MED and Logic. This album exceeded my expectations though. Fantastic production and great emcee combine for a powerful record of witty bars and conscious topics while mostly avoiding corniness.
Not a fan. Buddy told me to check out Ken Carson and this was not a good introduction... Production is low quality and a clear ripoff of his contemporaries. Not impressed.
Shoutout Brad Taste in Music for introducing me to this atrocity. Some of the songs made me burst out laughing, this album is quite the listen. Unimaginable that some of these are unironic. Nonetheless, the drumwork and some of the guitar parts sound nice, and there are redeeming qualities. Game Over is an unbelievable embarrassment, but this album is funny at least.
