Had my eye on this for a while and I'm so glad that this lives upto their previous work.
Overall this is super consistent front to back and offers a solid 40 minutes of post rock melancholy.
Only thing I could possibly complain about is the strange compressed mix on "stay forever". I have a particular attachment to this track considering it was likely my favourite from a set they played at a gig I was at last year. The main thing I enjoyed in a live setting was the pure ... read more
How do they sound this impossibly good live. I'm convinced the rawness of a live recording enhances some of these tracks substantially. Perfect album for wallowing.
Really quite interesting sound palette on this. The lo-fi production and minimalist percussion deepen the album's feeling of melancholy. This whole album really exemplifies how less can be more. I don't know what to say but this album just clicks when you're feeling utterly defeated. The echoing vocals and sparse production works so well to mirror the feeling of depression and defeat.
Seeing bloodhail live was honestly one of the most redeeming moments of my life. These guys are amazing.
