Definetly one of my personal favourites. This is the Album where Gojira transformed into the Gojira that we know. From Mars to Sirius is easily one of the bands best work alongside with TWOAF and L'Enfant. As such it is possible to see the same DNA with those albums. However, it is much more raw here. Trivium is a group that struggled with consistency from its inception but I think it is fair to say that Shogun is their magnum opus. Tightly written songs with Matt Heafys' energetic vocal performance still gets me exicited nearly 10 years in and that is this albums strongest feat. Probably Bolt Thrower's best album. The gap isn't huge between Those Once Loyal and Realm of Chaos; however, the main difference comes from how their musical style matured over the years. There really isn't much to talk about in terms of how their music evolved because it is good old death metal with groovy tunes. After listening to "The Mantle" and failing miserably, I really hoped that Ashes Against The Grain would captivate me. It indeed surpassed my expectations and I was hooked from start to finish.
