While it's not my favorite by OutKast, the quality and impact are undeniable. Them going for a futuristic modern sound that still sounds fresh in the 2020s was a great step. Big Boi and André do great as well, but I think 'ATLiens' just a little less captivating than what monumental releases their later records in 'Aquemini' and 'Stankonia' would be later on. Maybe because it's more laid back, but maybe also because the pacing is a little off.
Bad is Micheal Jackson being a bad boy with the voice of an angel.
This could have been a bit better. The highs are generational, just as on Thriller, but a few songs just don't hit as much.
Easily his best. Way more energy while keeping the chill hazey vibe. I still like his newer stuff but Civila Demo is a way better listen all the way through. This record proves you can be smooth while not loosing that edge.
Isiah sounds like he doesn't even want to be here. It kinda hurts me to say it but this album as a whole is way too boring. There is very strong songs on here, the writing is good but the full listen is dragging. Yes it's supposed to be Lo-Fi, but sometimes it's just not engaging enough. The beats and Isiah are too basic sometimes to make for a great album. I'm honestly surprised this has a score of 80.
Kenny Mason has successfully found his own sound but sometimes it still comes across as repetitive. Not because he can't find new pockets or beats, but because standouts like 'Shell' or 'Nosedive' show he is capable of playing outside his comfort zone even better than inside it. I still definitely like this project as it has a consistent quality and doesn't get boring at all.

My favorite Kenny Mason project atm. I think this is his best suiting sound. It's dark, hazey and his least repetitive I've heard so far. He has great performances both melodic and rapping wise. He brings a variaty of flows to a nice rock infused moody cloud rap esq soundscape. It's atompsheric and the skits add to the vibe.
6lack is a really distinct RnB artist. His lo fi approach and raspy voice had me hooked the first time I heard him and since then he definitely evolved as an artist. I liked his spacey Cloud trap Soul fused sounds, but it felt a bit samey often. I would describe his old sounds as a more disconnected, lonely vibe. For this project however, he took a more rooted, warmer approach. I like this style change. It suits him as well. He won't ever be the most exciting artist to listen to, but ... read more
Inconsistent and features mostly a generic 2010s Trap sound. But this debut occasionally shows who Travi$ Scott will become later on.
This might be my favorite D'Angelo project and I think it's easily his most intriguing one.
It's not just his best written album, but also features some of his best ever performances and is just his most focused body of work in general. Moreover it states the best production on any of his albums. I just really like how they incorporated guitars with the heavy funk influence he had already shown on Voodoo. I think this really elevates D'Angelos smooth style, that blends ... read more
Never thought Joey Badass, Lil Yachty and Chase B would make an horrocore album together, but here we are.
Incredible atmosphere. Beautiful sampling. Surreal feeling. Some songs got me feeling like I'm in heaven. It's just like laying on grass in the sun. Beautiful.
However it has weaker songs and Lil Ugly Mane's vocals sometimes don't fit the production or more like he gets outperformed. Really really good tho, just slightly bloated.
A little repetitive. I really like Kenny Mason, but this just didn't hit. Doesnt even have skips, I just think the repetivness holds it back.
STRUGGLER was my introduction to Owusu, and even tho it was a bit repetitive I saw the potential. I think while his newest release is more interesting, he also has some really nice ideas on here. I think what is a very good artistic decision is his 70s to 90s inspiration he incorporates in his music. It makes it feel dynamic by sounding modern while sounding grounded. Very cool genre fusing.
Love it when an album sounds like a journey and not just a playlist of songs. Genesis Owusu is a very distinct artist, who over years crafted his own sound. He comes back with another cool project, that doesn't necessarily sound too much like 'Struggler' (which I will review soon too as I liked it as well). Production sounds even more profound on this record on first glance. This is one of these must hear underground releases, one of the thousend UG albums that actually deserves ... read more
Drake used to be a good singer. Atp I don't really know if he still is. Sometimes Haunting, sometimes promising. The production on some of the first songs is really solid tho, I don't understand that part of the hate really.
But why is Sexy Redd on here again...Drake must have a beautiful dark twisted fantasy.
