I need to consume this album. It’s too good. Listening is not enough. The baseline on ‘would’ is so grumbly yum scratches brain good. Rooster is a perfect song. Still prefer jar of flies, sorry, but this is, this is GOOD. Really good. Rooster is on repeat until my phone dies, then I’ll charge it, and put it on repeat again.

A bit of an anomaly in the Alice in chains discography, but a raw, intimate, calmly intense anomaly nonetheless. A jewel of an album.

I don’t believe in perfect albums, but I do believe in perfect songs, and this album definitely contains a few of them. Although not my favourite album from Hendrix, “little wing” certainly is a perfect song. Listen upon listen it still exudes the same beautiful auditory satisfaction that it did upon the first listen. It’s magic. Not to mention bold as love, castles made of sand etc…

The general consensus with most artists is that their earlier stuff is their best, and that when they’ve been in the industry a bit too long, it shows. When artists try to maintain relevance, the quality of their work can fall off. However, I think this album is a perfect example of the complete opposite. It shows evolution, or if you disagree with that, just a change in sound, that does NOT compromise the quality of their music. I think perhaps this album is one of the most beautiful things to ever grace my ears. First listens are important; some albums get better the more you listen, others are outstanding from the get go – this is one of them. What I would give to hear this album for the first time again…
