The evolution of Poppy's sound has been super interesting. Her first album "Poppy.computer" was very fun, bright synth pop, her second album "Am I a Girl?" was also routed in synth pop but with a bit more edge and a bit darker, and notably the last two tracks of that album had very rock/metal influences and were a wild contrast to the rest of the album. Now it feels like almost a precursor to the sound of this new album, which is a blend of metal and synth pop, which is ... read more
It's a perfectly fine pop ballad. It's not interesting, but it's not garbage. It sounds completely fine
Pretty decent. I don't have a lot to say about it, I'm not really an expert on hip-hop stuff, but this was a pretty solid little mixtape with great production throughout
This album is really great. The sound of combining these elements of synthpop, bubblegum bass and elements drawn from classical pieces to give it this regal quality but retains the interesting production of synthpop.
The chorus of 'Flamboyant' sounds exciting and bizzare, the keys on 'Man to Man' give it so much power, the more EDM sound of 'Guyliner' with the 4 on the floor kick adds a lot of energy to the song.
The vocal processing of Dorian's voice is pretty interesting, they're obviously ... read more
As somebody who hasn't kept up with Harry Styles at all beyond his time in One Direction and that one time he randomly appeared in Dunkirk, I didn't know what to expect from this album. But I heard some people on Twitter hyping it up and listened out of curiosity.
It's a pretty decent pop album. It strives a fine line (*wink*) at being generic pop/folk music but it's interesting and catchy enough that it's not annoying to listen to. There's actually a couple of straight up bangers on here.

God damn, this album is an emotional powerhouse. Blending these huge, powerful instrumentals that sound odd, blending reverberant natural piano and swelling strings, mixed with these soft, intimate vocal and lyrics about love and personal growth.
It's so great, listening through in one sitting is really great, it feels like from the first song to the last, it's building in dynamics and emotional intensity and it's constantly engaging to listen to.
On a full re-listen of this album, I'm bumping this up to a 10. It's just such a fun album, the production is interesting, the melodies and hooks are catchy and fun, the features are all great, the lyrics are solid and the vocal mixing is solid.
When I first heard '1999' as a single playing on the radio, I was surprised that it was actually pretty damn good. There's other complete BANGERS on here. 'Gone' is such a supreme slap, 'Cross you Out' has a really aggressive synth bass, 'Warm' is very ... read more
