Oh man, Iowa done fucked me up.

As is obvious with any review for this album, I want to bring up that last song particularly. I was told "get ready for the most uncomfortable 15 minutes of your life", but for me it felt like that discomfort lasted a whole day or so. Since I was someone who suffered with self-harm, reading the description for Iowa got to me deeply and being able to hear that kind of emotion was very haunting.

Man. This whole album is so pretty.

I feel like this album would be what it feels like to be in a sensory deprivation tank; sitting alone with yourself and your thoughts in an eerie yet calming way. The slow realisation that life is about taking care of themselves and appreciating what they can do instead of worrying about another person.

Its a very pretty sounding album

Better than their latest album, but it's still not my favourite
They let the album breathe sometimes which I liked :))
Overall, it was pretty alright

I know that she's mostly a pop artist, but I really wish she'd lean more into the punk elements and try to work on them more sometimes too. Overall, the album is amazing with the lyrics and the instrumentals all really creating this unnerving atmosphere, almost representing what a high feels like through out the album.
If I like this genre more, it probably would've been a lot higher than my current rating, maybe even 100. :)

so you took a pretty decent album and made it this? pretty much all the instrumentals are pulled from the original with some really cheesy vocals. the fact that this was rated higher than the original before i rated it is just sad to me

I love dingy looking photos, especially ones that look like liminal spaces or even just make you uncomfortable.
The marks make the album cover feel like there's anger or some kind of guilt being held back. Or maybe it's just old and dusty.

The smooth and monochrome colour palette used for this album cover give it an empty feeling, almost a sense of giving up. I feel like I can understand what this album is about even though I haven't listened to it. It's simple and effective at the same time.

No effort seems to be put into those at all, they're just emojis that already exist. Sure people can take art that already exists and make it into something new but this, just no.
