Not the first time I find myself confused as why a nmixx main track happens to be THAT acclaimed. It's never bad, I'm just not moved (it was the same with know about me and blue valentine, especially). Heavy Serenade evokes quite nothing to me. Some short beautiful moments, overshadowed by very deja-vu and quite unfortunate choices. Not exactly within the production (I'm not fond of this cheesy piano tho) but within the vocal technics that are very pop, quite mainstream for an ... read more
Some songs are extremely nice on this, and I don't understand how some ppl would say they can't recognize billlie. Even with the genres changes, the texture, the layers, the playfulness of those tracks sound exactly like them. They have to be on of those few groups that has found an actual cohesive sonic posture/answer and even signature on how to produce a kpop track

Hybe has a way to make the less relevant and identifiable groups. Some songs are nice but all together? The selection makes no sense. A big downgrade compared to their last release, as awkward as I am to say this

I think some of you are a bit too exigent with them bc if rescene released this you all would be calling it SOTY. Saying that it's not their usual sound is very valid criticism but still. On my part, I wasn't expecting anything, we never really saw a kpop group sticking to a particular and exact music identity, except new jeans probably.
Yes are you okay was very original but one good song is not what it takes to build an identity. Bc YES this was the only actual unique song they ... read more
When they went to Klap and released their first ep with that company I was sure that they were going to establish themselves even more as a relevant group musically speaking. The two last releases are brutally stoping these hopes. The quality of the production has been dropping.
Especially for the two first songs on this ep, including the main track, The instrumentals sound cheap and quirky. It sounds extremely kpop and in a bad way, in a very boys groups way. It tries hard to be perceived as ... read more
Saw pop rock on the genre list and was ready to yawn throughout the EP and in the end, it's an entertaining kpop release like many others. A mix of a little bit of everything genres wise, that probably make it weak. But personally, I find most songs catchy, and I can imagine myself saving them. Really nothing great but also, really nothing horrendous or even, just bad. It goes from mid / generic to good / generic in a way kpop mastered, it being so typical makes it weirdly nice and ... read more
When a Jyp girlie releases a solo it's always a big deal. Always a lot of substance, work on finding an identity, a sound. This one does not really move the lines of what's conventional but a little something more is always added. The main track for example has this rythm that is easy listening and still you can hear in the production some weird elements, risks taking choices. The same goes for all the other tracks : they're following the trend, what ppl like and ask for, but ... read more
Y'all hyped the shir out of their last EP and now we're stuck with pop rock slop 🙏🙏 we genuinely seem to have lost one of the best in terms of originality. I can't pint point what made it so endearing until now in the two last EP. It used to be one of the most sought after kpop act, in a lot of aspects, visuals, sounds, atmosphere, concepts, and so on. Swinging from one genre to another, they were constantly exploring. It's not that I can't recognize them, on the ... read more
Her discography is not for me but she sure is very intelligent with all her releases and I think that recently she has been a master of reactiving a whole sense of weirdness and extravaganza that was a very kpop thing and probably made it a charming industry, filled of extremely worked on visuals and sounds. It's draining all the pop impact, with very catchy and vibrant sounds, a joyful attitude from the artist to the public. It goes for the main the track and the whole album that is full ... read more
The production is far from being horrendous, a more sophisticated voice work and less cheesy lyrics would compliment it. Love all the city pop references, very fitting and in talk with her previous release. I believe she has the ability to become a quite credible soloist. She released this without promo and ppl were still intrigued. Something more could be done to make it take off !!

Not sure if it's suitable to rate a project released in such situation (SA accusations), I don't know if something was done / changed or anything. For that, it's impossible to project ourselves listening to it despite a certain quality
Not really sure if their company cares about making money because I feel like nobody had a cue they were coming back, and that level of energy, budget and attention given in this project is not only morphing in a marketing matter but a music quality matter.
What's good about this is that now electro music / house music is extremely trendy, they can expend their initial girl crush sound, all the edm stuff they had going on. A sound that was btw a more common thing in kpop back when they ... read more
The rating of the final release is well lower of what I expected when Bang bang came out, this song being in my eyes pop perfection. Somehow, Ive always manage to release some occasional hits while having a very weird and unstable discography.
They have a clear sound, but it's not related to a genre, it's more related to precise vocal technics and rythms, the more emblematic being a very particular way of making adlibs, very airy. Thus, we can identify them easily. There is a Ive ... read more
