Pinned Review

Broadcast - Tender Buttons
100

The excruciating memory of going from 'You and Me In Time' to the slowed-down, reverberated version of the opening track 'I Found The End' for the first time still haunts me to this day. I remember how melancholic and gut-wrenching it sounded. Going from slight hope to absolute decimation within seconds. This is undoubtedly one of the best records I have ever come across in my life.

For a small period of time, everything in my surroundings revolved around this LP. Whatever happened, Tender ... read more

James Blake - James Blake

Let's get into some of the greatest music I've ever heard :)

“Unluck,” a cohesive opener that catapults the listener into James’ sonic environment. As a song, I find it on a lower level than the rest of the album. Glitchy production is executed well and meaningfully. “The Wilhelm Scream,” James Blake’s first (and definitely not last) slam dunk. Everything about this track works so perfectly, there isn’t a single thing I’d change about ... read more

Playboi Carti - MUSIC

As much as I am a new Carti fan, I find this exuberantly loaded project very underwhelming. First off, if instead of a 30-track project he would've chopped it down by half and given us 10-11 REALLY good songs, this would be a completely different review.

Opener 'POP OUT' shreds your ears right at the beginning and not in the best way. 'CRUSH (with Travis Scott)' actually opens the record with a nu-sensual delivery from the rappers, alongside an almost ... read more

Caroline Polachek - Desire, I Want to Turn Into You

Caroline’s ability to compel the listener to sit down and let her work her magic is incredible. Her voice, not being the only highlight of the record, makes such a standout that it’s hard imagining this album belonging to anybody else.

The production throughout the tracklist is very consistent but at times feels a little stale; however, this is by no means a bad listen. Hell, this oozes with creativity and passion.
Polacheck once again proves my theory right— she IS a siren ... read more

Oh, Amala... Why did you make me do this? You're my favorite rapper at the moment! Thanks to "Scarlet" and heavy potential, anyway.
Overall this record is very, very bland aside from "Need To Know", "Been Like This", "You Right", "Ain't Shit", and "Kiss Me More."

yeule - softscars

With otherworldly noise rock and shoegaze production, Yeule finds strength in the apocalyptic genres.
The only two tracks I wasn't very satisfied with were "fish in the pool" and closing track "apex twin flame" as they force you to ride out that noise high onto a halting, folk-y melody.

Album standouts could be found in: title track "softscars", "dazies", and "inferno." Overall, very happy with this record. I will be coming back to it in the ... read more
