This is probably going to be my longest review up to date, but that's because this album is one of Gorillaz best albums.
Gorillaz as a band is a really important to me because they got me into music in general, record collecting, and becoming a music artist. I remember my first exposure to Gorillaz besides your radio Clint Eastwood and Feel Good Inc was my little cousin who at a time was obsessed with the band. Granted he would only listen to the songs with music video or visualizer, but ... read more
Easily the best from the Pre-Flower Boy albums. This really feels like him putting his all compared to his last two albums. Honestly the only songs I don't like are Pigs, Parking Lot, and Trashwang the rest of the album is really good. The production is really great and this album has some of my favorite early Tyler songs.
If Fish didn't have the 2nd half it would be so good.
Goblin has better moments than most of Bastard, but has lower lows than bastard. Honestly this album kinda pisses me off I don't wanna talk or think of this album for a good while. Also Analog is really underrated.
This isn't what I wanted for Christmas...
Honestly I'm really mad that the production on this album is mostly really good. Most of it reminds me of Devon Hendrix it really is its own vibe. Big surprise the lyrics and songs like sarah and tina are the reasons I don't like this album. Doesn't help that only 3 songs are on spotify. Idk this album has some good songs, but i would rather listen to any other Tyler album (maybe not Goblin tho).
Fun Fact: Out all my album reviews with my dad this took the longest to finish being around 4-6 months because I just didn't have the motivation to listen to this album. I wish I didn't because this album is actually pretty good. All the hits are really good besides One Step Closer which I think is really overrated. A Place for My Head has always been my favorite song off this album ever since I first listened to this album. This album would actually be rated higher if it wasn't ... read more
While this album has some of my favorite songs from Porter through Divinity, Sad Machine, Flicker, Fresh Static Snow, and Goodbye To A World, what brings this album down for me is the amount of just ok songs on this project. Polygon Dust and Natural Light some to mind the most. It really goes to show how much Porter has grown as an artist with his next two album being significantly better in my eyes.
