Pinned Review

100 gecs - 1000 gecs

First review on this site, here we go...

The debut album of the iconic hyperpop duo 100 gecs is truly a hyperpop masterpiece. I had my doubts at first because hyperpop is really just a you love it or hate it genre, and before hearing this I have never been exposed to hyperpop, other than Charli by Charli XCX (which isn't fully hyperpop, though I did love it) and SugarCrash by ElyOtto (which I still think isn't really good). This album perfectly encapsulates what hyperpop is as a genre -- it's ... read more

Young MC - Stone Cold Rhymin'

Album is kinda just some basic late 80s hip hop, but in a good way. Young MC presents a lot of clever wordplay and is definitely great at rhyming. Every song here had something different to offer, while not changing the topic of the songs for the most part. The rhymes also kind of just got even better as the album went. There's also Bust A Move which is obviously very iconic for a lot of reasons.

I'm the dumbest girl alive

this actually was the first 2023 release i listened to, all the way in march for some reason. 100 gecs have had some pop punk influence in their earlier album, 1000 gecs, but here they took it a whole step further with entire pop punk riffs, instantly hearable in the intro of dumbest girl alive. this album really took a lot of influence from the whole 2000s pop punk and nu metal scene, and combined it with their usual style of hyperpop. the result was great, and ... read more

Going into this album and considering the overall quality of Hellfire I was definitely expecting something great, and I was not disappointed at all. I had a friend who told me I wasn't ready for this album a while back (before i decided to listen to like 500 other albums), saying it would force a reaction out of me which wasn't wrong. So, now I decided to finally listen to Cavalcade.

This album has a really interesting and complex sound to it. Each song has a different feel to it, and ... read more

Denzel Curry - TA13OO

2018 was such a great year for music in my opinion, i don't know why or what happened, but at the time of writing this review, 3 of the albums i have given a 10/10 are from 2018. out of all of them, ta13oo is my favorite one. it has a lot of meaningful lyrics, and has some of the best rap beats ever. i love curry's flow, and some of the features on this album were perfect choices, like jpegmafia on vengeance for example, the song really fits peggy's industrial/experimental style. my favorite ... read more

Used to be my favorite hip hop album of all time but things have changed a lot.

I still really enjoy this album, as it is still my favorite Ye album. It has a lot of really nice industrial beats and instrumentals, as well as the classic Bound 2. Thing is the lyrics are very flawed, and has some of Ye's worst writing ever. Every single song has quite a few lyrics that really make me cringe, even New Slaves which has been one of my favorite songs for a long time. I'm In It really demonstrates ... read more
